Julian Sayin -- LSU QB coach Joe Sloan was in California last night watching the five-star's game. This week I spoke to multiple people regarding the QB and his upcoming decision and it feels like an announcement will be relatively soon, possibly even next week. IF it doesn't happen soon, that makes me think Sayin is torn. He visited Alabama recently and loved the trip, I'm told, but then the Tide offered another 2024 QB just days later which makes me think they may not believe they'll land him. It still feels like this one will go LSU's way in my opinion and if that's the case the 2024 class will be off and running even moreso than it is now.
Desmond Ricks -- The five-star corner made news this week after reclassifying into the 2023 class and LSU is definitely in the mix here and likely one of his top two choices along with Alabama. Ricks has visited LSU several times this year and understands the need for corner next season LSU has and the possibility of starting as a true freshman. His decision is likely to go until the second signing date so I don't expect any news regarding him anytime soon but the Tigers are in it thanks to Brian Kelly, Robert Steeples and Jordan Arcement, who has played a big role with Ricks as he's known him since 8th grade and was the first to offer him when he was on the Virginia coaching staff. Ricks is originally from Chesapeake, Virginia, but moved to Florida to play at IMG.
Isaac Smith -- The four-star Mississippi safety loved everything about his recent visit to LSU. It's a school he dreamed about playing for and it's only a few hours from home. He's hoping to return for the Alabama game next weekend, possibly as an unofficial, but nothing is set in stone. IF he returns for an unofficial then there's still the chance he gets back to campus for his OV. Other schools in the mix: Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Texas A&M and Tennessee although the biggest threats would be the in-state schools, especially State who has been on him the hardest as Ole Miss just recently got into the picture, I'm told. I have a FutureCast on him landing with LSU.
Ka'Morreun Pimpton -- LSU is on the search for another 2023 tight end to pair with Mac Markway and Pimpton just might be the guy, or at least this is who I like after watching his film. Pimpton committed to Vanderbilt in July and since has been a senior riser with his great film, which I have below. He makes some incredible catches and looks the part of a TE for a program football program. The Tigers have actually offered several TEs recently and have started the process of recruiting all, including TCU commit Lafayette Kaiuway and Missouri commit Brett Norfleet -- both of these guys have been committed to those programs longer and could be harder to flip from in-state schools.
Harvey Broussard -- The further we get into the recruiting cycle and the more people I speak with the more I'm convinced the three-star WR will end up in this class for LSU. Broussard has visited several times, has nothing but positive things to say about his relationships with the staff and is just remaining patient in hopes to earn the coveted offer. He has over 700 receiving yards and seven TDs so far this season.
A few additional notes or things people have asked about recently...
-- How many will LSU take in 2023? That is still up in the air as they don't know which players may or may not be going pro. At least 25 high schoolers, but I don't think they take more than 30 high school prospects UNLESS they land some elite five-stars at the end because there's also the portal and plugging some holes with that. We all know Texas A&M is an absolute mess. I think we all expect some of those guys to hit the portal and if that's the case there's no doubt LSU, and many other programs, will be watching.
-- Speaking of the Aggies (who only have 12 commits in 2023 by the way), I'm going to begin reaching out to sources and prospects to see if LSU is still in the picture for any of those guys. LSU was in the mix for several of their commitments like Chase Bisontis, Bravion Rogers, TJ Shanahan, etc.
-- 2023 recruits LSU still in the mix for: Nyckoles Harbor, Toviano and Ricks (as I mentioned), DJ Chester (who I think LSU lands and have FC in on), still communicating with five-star Jayden Wayne, a Miami commitment, and Tausili Akana to name a few. Jamar Cain is also still recruiting some DTs he has good relationships (Alabama commit Edric Hill, Oregon commit A'mauri Washington, Jordan Hall) but I feel like this becomes a portal position.
