Look, I am not happy that this game came down to a missed field goal. I am also not happy with the punting game, but they got a win in a hostile environment against a ranked team in the SEC and an SEC West rival. You take the win and move on. It is a lot better than a loss. Yes, the offensive coaching may have been too conservative at times, but the real bugaboo was two penalties that negated two touchdowns and a likely 28-3 halftime lead. Also LSU is up 21-13 and Darrell Williams runs down to the 10 yard line and likely puts the game away but Gerald Hawkins gets a holding penalty. A couple of defensive penalties doesn't help either.
LSU did not get a tune up game last week, and it probably had a lot to do with the penalties. If LSU wins next week, then they will likely be 7-0 when they play Alabama. This a game that LSU can build on and learn from. Remember, Dak Prescott is one of the best quarterbacks in the country. They lost a lot from last year, but this is still a good Mississippi State team. LSU was favored by 3 points and won by 2. They have a long way to go, but it is a helluva lot better with a win.
