Updates from Brian Kelly on Tuesday...
-- Greg Brooks had a sprained ankle is working to get back to 100 percent. Major Burns has more of an injury (ankle injury), so he's shut down for the remainder of spring. Brooks will likely be back out of the practice field this weekend.
-- On the cornerbacks... BK says he feels like the room is a big younger but still has some experience with Duce Chestnut, Denver Harris and JK Johnson. Feels like they're in a spot that they can develop this young talent over the next few years.
-- On the safeties... Because LSU is being cautious with Burns & Brooks, Javien Toviano is getting a lot of reps at nickel and Yaites is "playing a ton of safety." Says it's been a good proving ground for Toviano and Yaites.
-- On DL coach search ... "We want to get through the spring. We feel like we're in a great situation with Gerald Chatman on staff, so there's no rush. He'll be a candidate for the position as well. We'll begin that process once we wrap up the spring then we're on the road to get to candidates and make it easier. So, expect something in three weeks or so. It's LSU, we have a great list of candidates that have interest."
-- On the offense ... "It's been really good to integrate the freshmen wide receivers ... Both freshmen tight ends have been important pieces to this offensive development for us as well. ... I think from an offensive line standpoint, getting (Bo) Bordelon into a position where it's consistent for him at center has been really good. ... The two QBs have been really good and continue to develop their skillset. ... (Trey) Holly at the running back position, it has been really good spring for him to learn protections. He has really good vision to see the hole. ... When you look at the offense from afar, it's plugging in new players into those positions that they can help us in the fall."
-- Jalen Brown has a hamstring injury. Hopeful to have clearance on Friday for him to be a full go.
-- On transfer portal ... Couple of needs on defense maybe interested in offensive line. Looking for depth at this point.
-- On the RBs: "Noah (Cain) has been a great leader. He practices hard and does it the right way which sets a great example for Trey."
