Obviously, JBE's reckless and hollow threat to cutting LSU Football last night was not only insanely irresponsible, but also a thousand percent without merit, as LSU Football actually CONTRIBUTES millions to the academic side, while remaining completely self-sufficient. Just a childish scare tactic he's employing in a desperate attempt to divert attention away from his new raising of taxes when he promised not to, and sadly the ensuing hysteria from the uninformed masses will probably work.

However, the drastic cuts to, if not the outright elimination of, the TOPS program would have a very real and profound effect on the baseball team. There is a roster of 35ish that has to split 11.7 scholarships. Guys like Lange (rightfully) command a larger slice of the pie, so as a result most of the in-state boys utilize TOPS as a form of free scholarship.

Bryan, am I correct in saying if it is abolished, our recruiting in baseball could be severely affected?
