.
Note at the very end it talks about wealthy schools being able to hire as many of these assistants as they want. Why isn’t LSU choosing to play the game to win? I’m wondering if these “assistants” even count as part of the recruiting budget as they are not technically coaches. It all sounds fishy to me; but apparently it is legal and LSU is behind the curve. Someone posted some data in another thread that suggests that LSU spends $1.4MM less on it’s recruiting buget than does top teams like Alabama and Georgia. Georgia has made a quick turnaround since Kirby Smart arrived; supposedly using the same recruiting approach as Alabama. Something appears to have definately turned Georgia around in a hurry. Time will tell.
“Teams like Texas that have all the money in the world can hire as many of those guys as they want,” Holgorsen said. “There’s no N.C.A.A. rule on this right now. I think there will be in the future.”
