Taking only 1 defensive back, Kelvin Joseph, reared it's ugly head yesterday. Since 2018 here's who we have signed.
2018-Kelvin Joseph->no longer with lsu obviously
2019- Stingley, Flott, Ward, Raydarious, Hampton
2020- Ricks, Toles, Mcglothern
When you look at it, the lack of corners who can truly cover man to man and give receivers problems is VERY limited. Stingley is obviously Stingley, Flott is definitely quick enough and fast enough to cover man to man. Sure he got beat a few times but he was in position there a few reps and didn't make a play. He's just going to get better with reps.
Ricks and Ward are pretty similar in the fact that there are longer corners who arent necessarily fast. Hard to judge Ward yesterday being that he has wasn't fully healthy.
Hampton missed a tackle or two yesterday but I dont really remember him getting beat in coverage. That could just be because we were so used to seeing ward and evans get burned that it was hard to think of anyone else at the time lol.
Mcglothern and Raydarious will not be ready to play SEC level football anytime soon, if ever. Raydarious must be absolute garbage to not get on the field with the absolute crap show by the defensive backs yesterday.
The more I reflect on the game the more I realize how much a coaching fail yesterday was. Why continue to play man when you simply dont have the personnel? At some point the coaches have to realize what their players can do and put them in a position to succeed. Im disappointed O didn't force a defensive adjustment at halftime
