did LSU fill its wish list? Filling needs is more important than final rankings . It does no good to be highly ranked if badly needed positions aren't fortified . Let's assume that Mike S ' predicted finish holds ....Martin , Fulton , Mullen. Let's assume that all current commits qualify and stick to their pledge ( Alexander and Fowler).
WR. More than filled their wish list . LSU went BIG in 2016 . All jumbo WRs . Always better to go big .
RB. They had ONLY a single target and they landed their man . with current depth White is all that they
wanted .
OL . They came up one short . They wanted 4 and got 3 . Not a severe miss but one nevertheless .
Teams can't sign 3 OL and dominate
TE they feel that one was all that they needed . As much as LSU uses multiple TEs 2017 may find
this position a bit thin . They lose 3 seniors after 2016 leaving only Moreau , Washington ( still waiting )
and Pettigrew , who looks to RS in 2016 ... Hard to break through this log jam .
QB LSU came up short ...about 5 inches short to be more specific. Their wish list had a 6'4" pocket passer (
Franks ) or a 6'3" dual threat ( Haskins ) . There is no sugar coating it . This was a reach
DE. Adding Martin fully satisfies their needs . 4 highly rated DEs sets them up nicely for the future .
DT. Two top notch DTs probably filled the need . I think that they wanted 1 more. If Logan makes the switch at some point THEN DT will be fully filled going forward
LB. 2 OLBs ...perhaps a 3rd OLB would have been desired especially if they play 4 LBs .
ILB Satisfied needs especially if the big walk on from W Monroe is an SEC player .
CB/ S . Embarrassment of riches . Not sure how big a need these positions were but Cory Raymond set
things up with this monster haul ...3 CBs, 3 S ( Smith ).
K. They will need a kicker after the 2 seniors graduate . Also their kick off struggles may be remedied .
Culp comes highly rated . The walk on from Lafayette could be a steal . Consider this position well
filled .
