IMO this is the order of positions of greatest needs in the 2018 class.
No.1 RB . Easily the most pressing need. None of returning RBs in 2018 Strike fear in SEC teams
None look like all-SEC types . The incoming RBs must be ready to play SEC ball immediately .
No.2 OL As usual accumulating top OL is the lifeblood of a program therefore rates No.2 . If one
wants to be more specific OTs are the real need . Our OL roster has for too long been loaded
with guard types
No.3 TE After Moreau the remaining 3 TEs are a converted DE, a veteran who's never contributed
and a RS Fr who wasn't good enough to see the field in 2016. Canada loves a TE who can
Stretch the field . No more glorified OTs plating TE
No. 4 DL. Orgeron is gradually getting the depth needed to dominate in the SEC . We lose 3 SRs
plus Arden Key who plays DL on almost every snap . Our current roster will leave us thin
after those losses . An SEC ready DL from the JC ranks would be welcomed.
No.5 ILB After bringing 2 studs in 2017 to,a neglected position we still need to bring in big bodied
ILB . No more 205 lb LB bulking up in order to play ILB by their Sr year . Bring in 230-240
freshmen ILB . That's the Alabama formula.
No. 6 WRs Canada needs a fleet of WRs to play 3-4 WR sets that he loves so much . The 2017
group was a decent group but not elite . Drake Davis from the 2016 class seems like the
keeper of the group . Sullivan ???
No. 7 QB This isn't a really pressing need the way the QB depth chart is shaping up . But because
it's such a vital position it can't be lower than No.7 . Most years it's easily the most critical
need . Just not in 2018.
No. 8 CB the cupboard is loaded as usual therefore the need isn't great . However LSU and Cory
Raymond are set to land the cream of the nation CBs
No. 9 S. Has any team ever brought in 3 elite safeties in one class like we did in 2017 . This should
be a low need position for years .
O.10 Kickers/ punters . Our projected kickers / punters are still young and should be around for
3-4 years . Orgeron won't be loading his roster with tons of scholarship ST players
