Did it ever occur to anyone at all that the demise of the football team is due in large part to the fiasco hiring of Kevin Steele as defensive coordinator? Anyone, anyone, Bueller....

You have to admit that the Kevin Steele fiasco was a blunder. Fire him, hire a real defensive coordinator and we would be right back looking at 10-12 wins next season. Don't tell me the defense was devoid of talent. Chavis had nearly this same defense at the top of the SEC last season. You are absolutely kidding yourself if you think LSU's getting mauled and unable to stop basic run plays didn't make a difference in the mentality of the football team. Even in the seven wins, folks were starting to talk like hey can it be the offense is carrying the team?

Isn't obvious that LSU's meltdown versus Alabama was a result of getting manhandled? Steele had no answer whatsoever when Alabama lined up in I formation and ran the ball off tackle. Arkansas, Steele never made one adjustment and they ran for over 300 yards! Ole Miss, defense constantly out of position and unable to even slow down the Ole Miss attack.

The only real quarterback Steele's defense stopped in the first seven games was Dak Prescott. Everyone one else was either a back-up, third string or fourth string! He faced not a single power run game and he was completely unprepared to stop a power run game. He never got in base defense the first seven games! He played a nickel package all seven games for most of the game, with two linebackers on the field. It was plain as the nose on the end of your face that LSU was due to start getting run over. It took Nick to show everyone the recipe, which really was shown last year with Mississippi State and Auburn, when they ran it down Chavis' throat. But Chavis schemed us out of it. He made personnel changes and FIXED it.

Kevin Steele has not made a single adjustment after getting EXPOSED at Alabama. He didn't walk an eighth or ninth man in the box and make Coker beat us. Our defense was absolutely powerless to stop Arkansas or Ole Miss. We make the games close. Do we crowd the line of scrimmage and do something to force a three and out. Hell no. We let them put up 21 unanswered. Walk right down the field. I thought this guy was some kinds of blitzing guru. Give me a single blitz LSU ran this year that got home? I'm waiting.
