coaching hire in 2015 raised any concern. Obviously the concern is defensive coordinator Steele who is evidently a personal friend of Miles. Steele does not have a sterling record and everyone remembers the Clemson fiasco. Fortunately for Steele, Saban picked him up and put him back on his coaching feet.

So what if Steele's D gives a sterling performance this season and LSU's total defense is ranked number one in SEC at season end. How should Miles reward Steele?

(1) - Defenses' performance in top three of SEC

(A) Extent his contract for a year or two;

(B) Provide him with a raise by bring his salary up to Cam's;

(C) Give him a large BONUS but no base pay increase or contract extension;

(D) Other.

(2) - Total defense retrogresses from 2014 and Steele's D ranks in bottom half of SEC?

(A) Do nothing just keep working to make the 2016 defense better;

(B) Consider bringing in new assistants who work better in Steele's system;

(C) Move Coach O up in box and let him call game defense

(D) Encourage Steele to find another golden opportunity.

Under first scenario Miles would select options ( A ) and ( B ). I would NOT enhance his contract or base salary. He needs more than one season to show he can stay "composed" and effective under pressure.Under the second scenario (D) is the only option I would consider. However, we all know how loyal Miles is to coaches and players he likes. Miles would select option (A). Miles would not want to make waves with the BoS. After all who wants to fall on a sword over another four or five loss season..

Notice this post is in the DEN. No attacks about affecting the recruits.
