I HATE our hitting approach. Gibbs is a Sanchez disciple, i.e. hit it hard as you can on every count. One of our current N LA players called his ex-HS coach and was discussing the hitting approach. He said they do not work on two strike approach, situational hitting, etc. Their instruction is basically grip it and rip it. He asked PM and MG "so even in a two strike count you just want me to swing hard"...their answer "YES". This is a major flaw and why I do not like Gibbs as a hitting coach. While in most parks this works, TD Ameritrade is not one! If you look back to when JS was the hitting coach we were not very successful in Omaha. Into that headwind yesterday, FL changed their approach to base hits and line drives. We kept swinging hard and pounding it into the ground and popping up. Thoughts?
