Here is a quick rundown on some of the info I have been able to gather in the last 24 hours.

TJ Finley participated in three practices, with little time actually working on the playbook. It was mainly jus throwing sessions for him, allowing him to get acclimated to the speed of the game. He will rejoin the team on January 2.

During those sessions, Finley caught the attention of teammates and coaches alike, with the group hollering every time he uncorked another dime. The word is that he was really impressive during the second and third practices.

It sounds like Clyde Edwards-Helaire is trending towards being a full go for the game. They anticipate being a partial participant to start the work and allowing him to work into a full work load, barring a setback.

It sounds like Damien Lewis will be day-to-day as the game approaches. Ed Ingram and Adrian Magee would likely be the starting guards if Lewis can't go.

Recruiting:

LSU is currently looking at around 20 prospects to fill the last six spots. They have not narrowed down exactly how they are going to prioritize the group, with the national championship run slowing things down a bit, but they are confident that they will reach a number they are comfortable with.

It does not sound like they feel the need to push for a full 25, which would allow for a transfer or two. The most likely transfer positions at this time would be quarterback, receiver and possibly running back, depending on who they sign and what Clyde Edwards-Helaire elects to do.

Edgerrin Cooper will not be committing to LSU this weekend. That's about all we can say on that matter. Utah and Texas A&M will be the other hats on the table, but it looks like the Aggies have quite an edge here. LSU slow played this one a little too long to get back into it at this point.

LSU is battling for an official visit with RB Jahmyr Gibbs right now. Georgia Tech has a decent hold, so don't consider him a lock to flip. Ohio State and Florida will join LSU as the teams rounding out the group that have a legitimate chance at signing him. LSU won a small battle by convincing him to take an official to Baton Rouge instead of Gainseville, which is a positive sign. It looks like OSU will be a real threat as well, so this one will be closely monitored moving forward. LSU needs to hold onto that visit date if they are going to have any chance of signing Gibbs.

Watch out for DB Dontae Manning out of Missouri. The thought was that he sent in his LOI to Oklahoma, but it sounds like that may not be the case. LSU appears to be circling and there may be some interest from Manning, according to a source. As of now, it sounds like he is still available, so it is certainly worth watching.
