This doesn't have any bearing on the current Super Regional Series between LSU and UL, but in all four Supers' the Cajuns have been a part of, the team that won first, lost the next two games and did not make it to Omaha. In 1999, UL beat Rice in Game one, but lost the next two sending the Owls to the CWS.
In 2000, The Cajuns lost to South Carolina in the first game, but came back and won the next two for their only trip to Omaha. Last year, UL-Lafayette beat Ole Miss in the opener, but lost the next two sending the Rebels to the CWS.
This year LSU has won the first game in dramatic fashion, 4-3. The Tigers need to come out of the gate quickly tonight and put an end to this trend. There need be no 2012 when they beat Stony Brook in a walk off fashion only to lose the next two.
Like I said, this Super Regional is completely different and it is up to the Tigers to keep it so.
