Obviously, the LSU coaching staff has its attention on the spring game this weekend and getting the team ready to finish spring on a high-note. The game will be offense vs. defense, Brian Kelly confirmed over the weekend. It's not the format Kelly likes but they'd be putting themselves in "some compromising situations" if they split it up.
"One of the things that we've been really working on is going from a practice mindset to a performance mindset and I need to do this. So, that's why the push if you're wondering, oh, what why does he need to do this? I need that kind of performance mindset in the stadium and getting that feel," Kelly said.
But the staff won't have long after the spring game to turn its focus on the transfer portal and filling those last three scholarships as May 1 is the deadline to be eligible in 2022 for players looking to transfer. The head coach, and recruiting coordinator Brian Polian, have both previously talked about the need for an additional cornerback, offensive lineman and tight end.
One name to continue watching is Sevyn Banks, the CB from Ohio State who has one year remaining.
Kelly said: "The SEC rules (deadline for an athlete transferring to be eligible in the fall is Feb. 1) so you know, that kind of ends that so there's, you know, we've got a couple of openings that there'll be some auditions for and you can be assured that they'll be filled. We've obviously been working on this for quite some time. And we feel like we know the two needs. I don't want to be specific, but have a couple of needs that we need to fill and we're prepared to fill those quickly."

Lastly, I wanted to mention that I'll start pulling back later this week as I prep for maternity leave and Jimmy and Jerit will step in. I'll probably have a baby sometime within the next 2-3 weeks. So, I won't be at the spring game this weekend as those guys and Ron will handle. I'll still be around until the end of the month helping with some draft stuff and passing the baton to those guys. Just wanted to give y'all a heads up.
