-- The buzz regarding Florida State and Shelton Sampson has been very real. The Seminoles are saying and doing all the right things to give Louisiana's top WR something to think about, including how active their community has been in the NIL game and overall support, which is obviously attractive. As I said yesterday, I think he ultimately announces for LSU Saturday at 3:06 p.m. and his heart will win out over anything else FSU or Texas A&M could offer. If he picks the Tigers tomorrow, like I think he will, I will not be counting out FSU by any means and fully expect them to continue recruiting Shelton to the fullest until December when he plans on signing. But my FutureCast has been in on Sampson since early July to LSU and I have not and won't moved it as I expect the elite WR to pick from his heart and stay home.
-- Zachary safety Kylin Jackson should be the next recruitment to keep an eye on as he's planning on announcing on Monday, the 8th. I have my FutureCasts in on Jackson to be a Tiger which gives LSU another top prospect to an already impressive group of DBs committed in Daylen Austin, Ashton Stamps, Ryan Yaites, Michael Daugherty and Jeremiah Hughes, plus the Tigers are still in the mix for Javien Toviano and a few others.
-- At the time of this post, Rickie Collins does not have a set date yet, but it's coming sooner rather than later from all indications. Collins decommitted from Purdue on Aug. 1, which was the first step for LSU to try and land their QB in the 2023 class.
-- It's also still unclear when Zalance Heard or Khai Prean may be ready to announce but those continue to be two additional players that LSU feels good about. When I have dates or timelines on Collins, Heard and Prean I will pass along.
-- Woodlawn CB Jordan Matthews scheduled his announcement for Aug. 15 with his final three being Texas, Tennessee and Michigan. All the FCs are in on him picking Texas. As I recently mentioned though, LSU will still continue to pursue Matthews. Perhaps if the Longhorns don't produce on the field this season he may be open to the Tigers then.
