and since it seems like we are coming to the end of an era, I figured I would post the top 10 memories of what surely will be known as the Golden Age of LSU football. Not that the age won't continue, just so far. Of course the Saban years are the beginning of the era, so I have some of those listed too. So, on this Thanksgiving Day, 2015, I am forever thankful for and will always remember:

10. November 9, 2002. That is the day Kentucky poured Gatoraide on their coach and stormed the field because they thought they had upset LSU. Instead, Marcus Randal heaved a 74 yard "Hail Mary" to Devery Henderson with no time on the clock. A feat that became known as the Blue Grass Miracle.

9. December 30, 2005. That is the night LSU kicked the crap out of Miami in the Peach Bowl. After dropping the SEC Championship to Georgia, LSU fans were down on coach Miles. Well he answered the bell in a big way with this beat down and his first bowl game win.

8. September 10, 2005. After Hurricane Katrina moved the game to Tempe Arizona, Early Doucet caught a last second touchdown in the corner of the end zone to give Les Miles his first win. A picture of the catch would later be a pull out poster in the LSU Gameday magazine. I saw Early outside the Lod Cook hotel and he signed the picture for me stating that he'd never seen the picture before I showed it to him. In a twist of irony, he thanked me for letting me sign a picture of him; instead of me thanking him.

7. September 3, 2011. After Jordan Jefferson was suspended from the team for fighting outside Shady's bar, Jarrett Lee was set to make his first start in a couple years. It was against Chip Kelly's vaunted Oregon Ducks in Jerry's World. The game was a testament to things to come for the 2011 season as the LSU defense and special teams befuddled the Ducks.

6. November 5, 2011. Billed the latest Game of the Century, undefeated LSU met undefeated Alabama in Tuscaloosa. A defensive struggle which saw Coach Saban make a couple of questionable special teams decisions resulted in a hard fought Tigers win and what appeared to be the final major hurdle on the way to another national title. Unfortunately it just wasn't meant to be.

5. October 22. 2011. In the midst of probably the greatest regular season in LSU football history, LSU met Auburn in Tiger Stadium. Honey Badger was well... Honey Badger and LSU utterly destroyed Auburn. Jarvis Landry literally ran through Auburn's kick return man and they quit after that hit. I might not have ever witnessed a more dominant performance in all my days in Tiger Stadium.

4. January 4, 2004. This night saw LSU's first national championship in 45 years. I remember how much pride that team brought to the whole state. LSU was everyone's team again. They beat the team that to start the season was proclaimed to be the greatest team ever, Oklahoma.

3. January 7, 2008. I let my son stay home from school and we got in the car and drove 5 hours to New Orleans for the BCS championship game against Ohio State. After a shaky start, LSU went on to dominate the Buckeyes for its third national championship. I am grateful to the Ark-La-Tex Tigers who provided me two tickets so that my son and I could have a great memory to cherish the rest of our days.

2. September 12, 2012. Is the night not many would have on their thankful list. But, I will forever have it on mine. We beat Auburn 12-10 true enough. But, what happened after the game is what makes it special. That is the night Sam Montgomery was last out of the locker room with a backpack full of sweatbands. He sat their in the dark of Tiger Stadium and signed them for every kid, and some big kids too, until they were all gone. Knowing I wrote a letter to Les Miles about the encounter, he would later sign my Gameday program with his picture on the cover. He inscribed it with, "To the man who let the world know who I was."

1. September 20, 2003. Was the day that Tiger Stadium refused to let the Tigers lose. By far the most electric atmosphere I have ever experienced in Tiger Stadium. It was my wife's first game. We went without tickets to the game. We waited all day without seeing a single ticket for sale. Then in desperation, I literally prayed to God that he immediately send me three tickets to the game. Just as the game was about to begin, He did. We saw Skylar Green catch the game winner from Matt Mauck and its a day we will never forget. It was so special that Mike the Tiger came in the stands and took a picture with us in our seats.

So, Tiger fans if you are feeling down about the program, don't. In the words of Michael Irvin upon his induction to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, "Look up, and get up, but don't ever give up." We are LSU and for all of ours days here, we will forever collectively call ourselves Tigers!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone and GEAUX TIGERS!
