STs can get lost in preseason discussions. Let's correct this now.
We all know that STs were a sore spot in 2015 . While they may not have cost any wins they will need to be shored up in 2016. It seems that Peveto will be around to continue in his role as ST coach . A bit surprising I might add.
Kicker . Domingue will be a senior . If there's one position where you want to have a Sr this is it . He enjoyed
a solid 2015 campaign making 76% of his FG tries and missing only 1 PAT.
Kick off . Toward the end of the season Cameron Gamble was the kicker . Results were awful. Too many Out of bounds kicks . Still can't believe that he has a scholarship strictly to kick off . This has to be better in 2016.
Teams continually had good field position after kick offs . Few touch backs were seen . Apparently we had no one capable of booting it into the EZ. Can true Fr Culp win this job in 2016?
Kick coverage . Another poor unit . Was it the kicks or the cover teams ? Late in the season starters began manning the coverage teams and the results were better . This area needs an upgrade in ' 16.
Kick return . This area was average in '15 . Darius Guice settled into that role and will be a weapon in '16.
This should be better this time around .He showed flashes of what he can do here.
Long snapper . The best LS ever in Reid Ferguson moves on to be replaced by his younger brother . Hopefully he's learned from the best . He'll be a freshman.
Punter .. Jamie Keehan also graduates . His erratic punting continued in '15 . His fellow Aussie Josh Gowen RS Fr will be the heir apparent . We know little about him .kicking in practice is far different than in pressure packed games.
Punt coverage . Was as bad as the kick coverage . But much of the problem was the poor punts with little hang time . This needs to improve .
Punt return . White was better than in '14 when he struggled with decision making. He did have his moments in 2015 as well with the same things. This is another area where a Sr is invaluable . His return solidifies this position .,
