The perfect Quarterback Rating (QBR) is a 100.0 . An average QB in the NFL would rate about a 50.0 while a pro-bowl caliber player would have something in the range of 75.0. The top 3 QBR's in 2024 were Josh Allen (77.4), Lamar Jackson (77.3) and Joe Burrow (74.8).

Over the last six games, including the one last night - all must-win games for Washington - this is how Daniels has rated in clutch situations:

When his team was trailing: 87.0
During the 4th Quarter: 89.2
vs. the Blitz: 98.1
On 3rd and 4th down: 99.2

That's beyond insane for anyone. For a rookie? Forget about it. Plus, I don't even know how or even if that QBR stat addresses clutch runs or scrambles for a 1st down.

I keep telling people that Washington has had a lot of luck, winning so many close games, and they could just as easily have been 8-9 this season based on things Daniels had no control over whatsoever. They could easily take a step back next season, record-wise, and actually be improved as a team, that this is just a special run and one of those 'team of destiny' type seasons...

...but at the same time, Daniels' patience, intellect and calm demeanor (as well as the relentless preparation he apparently puts in during the week) put him in the perfect position to take advantage of that luck, to maximize any opportunity he's given, and if he's that good in the clutch when he's still learning the game, nothing says that he couldn't eventually be that good all the time, once he learns to access that talent on demand.

We knew the kid was great, but we might be looking at something truly special here. Let's hope he stays healthy.

In the off-season - draft and free agency - what do you think helps Daniels more - improving the offensive line, getting him a second elite receiver or going after a serious RB? Honestly, I look at what happened with Derrick Henry at Baltimore this year and I feel like a serious run game threat would be the thing Daniels needs to truly take over (and to keep him healthy), but Derrick Henry's don't exactly grow on trees. Word is there's interest in adding Tee Higgins as a free agent. Every mock draft I've seen has Washington going OL in the first round and then defense on rounds 2-4, so I guess we'll see.
