I listened to a guy propose this idea to help solve the opt out/bowl game/playoff crisis:
-Keep the ranking system, but don't reveal the playoff selections until after the bowl season.
-Keep the New Years 6 bowls, and select the top 4 teams for Championship Playoff from those bowls.
In theory, that would help eliminate bowl opt outs and save the current bowl games. It also keeps the lower ranked teams in the playoff hunt, in the event that a higher ranked team loses their bowl game.
Would something like that work? Does that solve anything? Thoughts?
