it's amazing how well assistant coaches do when contract time arrives. Especially when they've got willing accomplices in the media dropping their names for jobs that they aren't really in the hunt for.
I mean, if you're a media guy and you're doing your "coaching friend" a favor by shelving your media ethics and dropping his name, why not go all the way and ask for a kickback when that lucrative contract gets signed.
There's a difference between, "Joe Blow is interested in the job opening at Poo U" and "Joe Blow IS A CANDIDATE for the job at Poo U".
And then there's the many times where, Joe Blow is not a candidate for a job at Poo U, but he wants you to think he is so he can get more money from Home Town U.
