Brian Kelly has his sights set on hiring Alex Atkins, former FSU OC/OL Coach, as their TE Coach / Run game coordinator. A deal could be struck as soon as today per Wilson Alexander.

LSU Football is set to add former Miami DC and Louisiana native Lance Guidry as an analyst. He spent the last two seasons at Miami where his defense ranked 70th (26.7 PPG) in 2024 and 48th (24.1 PPG) in 2023.

Ohio State has over 20 players who have entered the portal ; it appears that number may grow. In addition , the the top 10 teams in portal entries each have easily over 20. Bottom line is LSU's portal exodus is relatively tame in comparison. My point , is your's and other's consternation over LSU's portal entries is a bit of an over-reaction.

Quick notes from Day 2:

Spoke to Mason Taylor, Emery Jones Jr. and Garrett Dellinger today at the Senior Bowl in Mobile.

I asked Taylor about the concerns surrounding his weight and that showing up in the trenches. He knows he came to LSU light, but he said now ideally he still likes to stay around 250-255 pounds. Taylor: "That's the perfect weight for me." Wants to have balance in that regard to not compromise his best traits. Surely teams will still push for him to add to his frame a bit.

Taylor also noted that the Miami Dolphins were one of the teams he met with to start the week. Interesting for obvious reasons, but asking about meetings doesn't hold much weight to be honest. (Pun not intended). All of these guys are going to meet with everybody. However, I also spoke to his representation who said several GMs have expressed interest in Taylor as "the most complete tight end in the class." Plus a note that, "He's going to be drafted very early."

Jones Jr. is a pure competitor. Been through a lot, smiling through it all. He told me that he thinks NFL teams and his Senior Bowl teammates are both noticing the intensity in how he approaches the game. "When I'm on the field, I feel like I'm trying to kill whoever is in front of me."

Dellinger was a fun talk, too. He's been embracing the week and feels like he's been able to separate himself in the meeting room. Looks like he's being projected at the center position, which he said was expected. Mostly trying to assure teams that injuries aren't bothering him.

Big game tonight as LSU hosts the No. 1 team in the country in Auburn. Student section is filled to the brim...Can't say the same about the rest of the arena 17 min before tip.

Good evening, all. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that we'll have a new recruiting analyst joining the team at Death Valley Insider.

Trevor Ritchie is joining the team; Trevor has previous recruiting experience covering both Southern Mississippi and Michigan with the On3 network. Trevor graduated from Southern Mississippi and has five+ years of experience.

We're working on getting his onboarding completed now and he should be up and running soon. Once we get him set up, I'll have him swing by and introduce himself.

We're looking forward to having him on the team and providing some quality recruiting coverage.

Brian Kelly made the trip to Tupelo, Mississippi to visit with four-star DE JaReylan McCoy on Monday. McCoy committed to LSU on Jan. 2nd and looks to visit Baton Rouge again this Saturday according to Rivals National Recruiting Analyst, Sam Spiegelman. The 6-foot-7 DE is highly touted and it will take a lot to keep him committed, but BK is already working hard on keeping him interested.

Four-star LSU commit, Kenny Darby, has shutdown his recruitment nearly a year from signing day. We'll see if he stays true to that as other teams try to sway him, but that's his plan as of today.
