even before the hiring of Dave Aranda I felt that the D in 2016 had the potential to be better than 2015
DL,. We lose no one from 2015 .
DE will be deep and experienced. Key will make the normal Freshman to Soph improvement that every college athlete makes. In Aranda's scheme he will explode. Neal and Bower , who had his best game ever v TT will be grizzled Seniors. Teams need no more than 3 DEs . Add in the potential for a true Fr or 2 to contribute as well
DT . Here we have 4 veterans primed to go in 2016 . the pleasant surprise was the emergence of Herron and Gilmore as solid backups . Both will be battling Godchaux and Lacouture for starting jobs . Will,Rashard Lawrence be able to provide minutes as a true Fr? How about 5* Alexander.
LB ... Obviously Kendall Beckwith's decision is important for this unit and the entire Defense . But let's assume that he goes leaving Senior Duke Riley and Junior Donnie Alexander as the only holdovers .
LSU employs only 2 LBs a large % of the time . Also Aranda is one of the best LB coaches in the game .
CBs ...Tolliver and Jackson will,be solid and will,make that Fr to Soph improvement. Add in true Fr Savion Smith and LSU will be strong at CB .
S ...losing only Mills brings back an experienced deep .group. ..Adams will,be the leader of the D .After that we'll have Seniors to fill in the other S and nickel/ dime positions. Prediction : 5* S Monroe will,start from day one somewhere in the secondary.
