We are losing 11 players from the roster assuming that Pap doesn't come back for his senior season:
We will have to replace Pap with either Coomes, Woley or Bryce Jordan
1st base: I doubt we leave Slaughter there but it will likely be between Slaughter, Coomes or Bryce J.
2nd Base: I saw us play Woley there once, but I would guess that Chris Reid or Templet may compete for that job.
Shortstop will in all likelihood be Josh Smith
3rd will be competition with Reid and a new comer
We seem to be very thin at infielding positions even though we had seven shortstops on this year's team.
In the outfield it will be Duplantis and Watson and then a competition between Beau Jordan, Brennan Breaux and probably a newbie
On the Hill: We have three premium arms returning, Walker, Gilbert and Hess
We have a bunch of mediocre arms returning: Bain, Norman, Beck, Bush, McKay, Reese, Kiel, Peterson and Frederick.
I personally hope that we can keep Hess in the pen and have either Bain, Beck or Kiel step up for starting positions. Otherwise, we need some help out of the recruiting class.
Once again the team doesn't look like it has enough premium arms to get back to Omaha, but that remains to be seen.
