LSU is one of only two teams to finish in the top 6 rivals ratings for at least 5 of the last 6 years. We finished No. 6 three times and
No 2, twice. The other team is Bama. We truly get the talent year after year to win it all. While we have had some terrific years, no championships since '07.
Two things come to mind that keep us from the top. The major reason, in my opinion, is our coaches lack of success with recruiting top QB's and coaching them to play up to expectations. Number two, and maybe the biggest flaw, has been our inability to keep the top players from going to the NFL after 3 years. This is hopefully something we can turn around. The loss of juniors was a lot less painful this year as most key players stayed. Looking at the 2014 class, this year's class, which I believe will finish strong, and the depth of talent in LA for the 2016 class, we really should play for it all once or twice in the next four years.
Not a prediction, just an observation. Here is to keeping the talent and getting some real solid play from QB's. Hope the QB haul next year is great! If so, hang on to your tickets!
