Music nut here, I have a CD of 25 or so college fight songs, occurs to me they need ranking. Excluding LSU of course, since it would win. The question that hits me - are the most famous ones because they are played the most, or are they played the most because they are better? I have to conclude the latter. Have gone back and forth but here is what I have come up with:
1. Notre Dame - (this kills me) - it's just a really good song and has that little preamble before the main theme, that really sets the stage. And those seven notes
2. Georgia Tech - Wrambling Wreck - Irish diddy, very clever, good words, hard not to sing or whistle along.
3. Oklahoma - Boomer Sooner - darned creative song, and different, like Tech's song. Just works.
4. Wisconsin - On Wisconsin - classic, very close to a tie with #5. Can't argue this song.
5. Michigan - Hail to the Victors - another classic, could be argued as high as #1 easily. Great tune.
HON MEN: Alabama (oh this kills mes), complex with four key changes to start, USC - fits will their maskot, A&M - song really fits their eithos.
OK, opinions, how bad did I screw this up?
