LSU practiced indoors again Thursday due to the heavy rain. The Tigers wore helmets, shoulder pads and shorts. Members of the media were able to watch about 20 minutes of practice.

The experimentation along on the offensive line continued Thursday. K.J. Malone, who was the No. 1 left tackle on the first day of practice, was not present when members of the media were at practice. Of course, starting center Ethan Pocic is missing spring drills while recovering from hip surgery. The two available returning starters worked with the No. 1 line -- Maea Teuhema at left tackle and Will Clapp at left guard. The backup left tackle was Chidi Okeke and the backup left guard was Adrian Magee, both of whom redshirted last season. The starting right side remained the same -- Toby Weathersby at right tackle and Garrett Brumfield at right guard. The two backups on the right side were George Brown at tackle and Josh Boutte at guard. Andy Dodd was the only scholarship center at practice. Brumfield has a great opportunity as offensive line coach Jeff Grimes is giving him the first shot at being that fifth starter.

Here is a look at the other position areas.

WIDE RECEIVERS
Present: Tyron Johnson, Dee Anderson, Malachi Dupre, Derrick Dillon, Tony Upchurch, Russell Gage, D.J. Chark, Jazz Ferguson, Stephen Sullivan.
Absent: Travin Dural
Notes: Sullivan made a spectacular one-handed catch on a ball thrown by Brandon Harris. Both Sullivan and Ferguson looked very athletic.

TIGHT ENDS
Present: Colin Jeter, Foster Moreau, Jacory Washington
Absent: DeSean Smith
Notes: This was Moreau's first practice. Moreau and Jeter form a potent 1-2 punch. This area would only get stronger if Dillon Gordon is granted an extra year of eligibility.

OFFENSIVE LINE
See above.

QUARTERBACKS
Present: Brandon Harris, Justin McMillan, Danny Etling
Notes: LSU announced Thursday that Anthony Jennings will transfer whenever he graduates -- at the end of the spring semester or after summer school. By graduating, Jennings would be immediately eligible at another FBS school. Jennings has not used his redshirt year yet. Harris looked much quicker than Etling or McMillan in his release. The ball also comes out of Harris' hand with far more velocity. At this point, Harris is way ahead of Etling.

RUNNING BACKS
Present: Derrius Guice, Leonard Fournette, Lanard Fournette, Darrel Williams, David Duce, Bry'Kiethon Mouton
Absent: John David Moore
Notes: This is quite an impressive group of physical running backs. All of them are quite capable of catching the football. The backs can certainly be a part of the passing game.

DEFENSIVE LINE
Present: Tashawn Bower, Arden Key, Davon Godchaux, Sione Teuhema, Christian LaCouture, Lewis Neal, Isaiah Washington, Frank Herron, Deondre Clark, Greg Gilmore
Notes: All of the linemen stayed with coach Ed Orgeron during the time members of the media were present. LaCouture and Gilmore are the two nose tackles. Bower and Key were doing some drills as outside linebackers with the defensive line group.

LINEBACKERS
Present: Corey Thompson, Devin White, Devin Voorhies, Duke Riley, Michael Divinity, Donnie Alexander, Kendell Beckwith, Michael Patterson
Notes: This was Thompson's first practice. He was working at outside linebacker along with Riley and Divinity. All of the other linebackers were working inside. Alexander appears to have made a lot of improvement since last season.

DEFENSIVE BACKS
Present: Donte Jackson (not going through drills), Savion Smith, Rickey Jefferson, Dwayne Thomas, Xavier Lewis, Tre'Davious White, Ed Paris, Jamal Adams
Absent: Kevin Toliver, John Battle
Notes: With Jackson not participating, Thomas was the No. 1 right cornerback. The other starters in the secondary were White at left cornerback and Jefferson and Adams at safety. With so many defensive backs not practicing, depth is a problem. Thomas was put with the first unit ahead of Smith and Paris, the other two corners.

SPECIALISTS
The specialists were not practicing while members of the media were present.

LSU's fourth practice of the spring is scheduled for Saturday.
