LSU FOOTBALL A perfect way to win a game…..

If you wanted to write a scenario to win a game it couldn’t have been better. I guess that’s why BK had that creepy smile at the end of the game interview. Allow them to smell victory and then snatch it away in your last 2 plays. This will be hard for Ole to recover. I wouldn’t want to be in their post game locker room. If Kiffin can get them to recover and win out my hats off to him.

LSU FOOTBALL LSU offense…..

At or near the end of the game the announcers were discussing the LSU offense and how it had been modified for the Ole Miss game. I am not sure I got the total gist of it but BK and the coaches want Nuss to be more aggressive down field and throw more deep balls so LSU run more deep patterns and less intermediate and short patterns. The announcers had been keeping track of it and evidently had been supplied history information about the number of different length throws in games. They stated that LSU threw more deep patterns in this game then any game since records on that had been kept. Kind of blew my mind which is probably not difficult. They deliberately made Nuss more aggressive and IMO may have been the reason BK said after the game that Nuss grew more in that game than any game .

Part of the growing might have been the low completion percentage and interceptions, but the completions also averaged about 15.3 yards/completion. Almost a “chunk” play. This could also be an effort to improve the running game. Reduce the interceptions and increase the completion percentage and you might see more guys off the LOS. It is interesting to note that the tying TD was 23 yards and tge winning TD was 25 yards. Nuss got better at chunk” plays I guess as time went on.

LSU FOOTBALL Defensive stats from Ole Miss game

Just wanted to share some insane defensive stats from last night:

- Zy Alexander was targets 10 times, allowing just 4 catches for 27 yards. He made five tackles and didn't miss a single one while covering Tre Harris, who is widely regarded as one of the best WRs in football.
- Whit Weeks finished the game with 18 tackles, which is insane in itself, but he was not credited with a single missed tackle. He also only gave up 28 yards on five catches.
- LSU combined for 25 pressures on Jaxson Dart last night. 12 different players applied pressure at some point.

Great night in Death Valley

A big shout out to the fantastic hospitality shown to my Husker group that traveled to Death Valley
For our first ever trip down for a night game, especially Jerry and his group that were just the best of hosts
And the game itself, WOW, a true bucket list experience.
You all know how to do it up right!
See you in Omaha next year

LSU FOOTBALL OL

All I kept hearing about was how awesome their D line was. We never really established the run tonight but we also didn't try too hard. Our boys gave up zero sacks. Nuss had some pressure and scrabled a few times but was untouched (execpt for the roughing the passer penalty) all f'ing night. I also think we only had 2 penalties on the OL.

OFF TOPIC Some Personal News

No, I'm not announcing my departure. You guys aren't that lucky. However, I know I've been more in the background as of late though still involved with the site. I'm not quite sure what to call it yet, but I had a bit of a health scare recently. I think that's the perfect thing to call it. Or maybe episode. Long story short, after a recent heart concern, without getting too personal I've had to see a cardiologist and I'm currently wearing a heart monitor and have further testing, and evaluations scheduled through the month of October. So, I've been forced to take it a little easier as of late.

I'm not planning on going anywhere anytime soon. We are still looking for a recruiting analyst to add to the site and I will still be around, and things will eventually return to normal. I'm doing the best I can to keep them as they were and want to get back to where we were when Kenny was here with not only providing great team content, but also recruiting content as well. I just ask that hopefully you'll take it a little easy on me and give us a little patience while we continue to look for the next great addition to the team.

We'll get there.
