LSU FOOTBALL 02/05 Brian Kelly Media Availability

  • Opens with this on the Greg Brooks interview: There's many things I can't say, but here's what I can tell you. It's factually incorrect to state that I was not there by Greg's side through this ordeal...We love Greg. We love him for the person, competitor and battler he is.
  • Says they "met their goals" with his Million Dollar match campaign. He and an anonymous donor matched up to a million dollars of NIL support, meaning they've raised over three million bucks in the past couple months.
  • Says Alex Atkins brings a lot of experience with successful run games and has a background in OL coaching. He won't step on Brad Davis's toes, but he will be involved.
  • The plan for this year's roster building was to surround Nuss with weapons and giving Blake Baker playmakers on defense.
  • He's been to see Colin Hurley on multiple occasions. He's in Jacksonville with his family, and after talking to his dad yesterday, says he's making positive progress. Day-to-day situation, no timetable for a return.
  • Wanted to get some SEC experience in the QB room with Nuss, which is why they brought in Michael Van Buren. Says with him and Colin, they have two guys who can go in if something were to happen to Nuss.
  • Says Bauer Sharp has been outstanding so far and will compliment Trey'Dez very nicely. Also says Jack Pyburn has stood out early.
  • Their new WRs - Nic Anderson, Barion Brown, Destyn Hill - have lived up to the hype.
  • They have no expectations for the next portal window. They don't need anything, but says they'll be open if the right fit is there.
  • They'll be monitoring the Lacy situation. Says they don't know if he can go in the Pro Day.
  • Says Trey'Dez Green is still weight training with the team, but he has lost a little bit of weight. Isn't too concerned about it though.
  • They will add another ST coach to the mix soon.
  • There will be great competition for starting job on the offensive line. No job is secured yet.
  • Doesn't want their roster to be built through the portal, he wants to top it off each year. Admits that this year was a heavier class than they want. Says they've made incredible strides in NIL recently to help them build this year's roster.

LSU FOOTBALL 2024 OL

Frazier was voted No. 1 OL At the Sr Bowl by his peers . Emery Jones has stood out at the Sr Bowl . Both improved their stock
We all know about Big Will . All three will play in the NFL as Will Dellinger

That’s four veteran future NFL players and yet couldn’t run the ball despite having a really good passing game preventing teams from stacking the box . How many teams have four top OL at one time
Any thoughts from posters ? Was it-the RBs , the TEs , poor run scheme by the OC , or poor OL coaching

OFF TOPIC New Recruiting Analyst Joining the Team

Good evening, all. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that we'll have a new recruiting analyst joining the team at Death Valley Insider.

Trevor Ritchie is joining the team; Trevor has previous recruiting experience covering both Southern Mississippi and Michigan with the On3 network. Trevor graduated from Southern Mississippi and has five+ years of experience.

We're working on getting his onboarding completed now and he should be up and running soon. Once we get him set up, I'll have him swing by and introduce himself.

We're looking forward to having him on the team and providing some quality recruiting coverage.

11 Year old kid pulls Paul Skenes Rookie Patch card from box.......

I've been waiting for someone more knowledgeable than me on MLB to comment on this, but haven't seen it yet, although I could have missed it. But wondering how many others read about the 11-year-old kid in Los Angeles who pulled the redemption card for the one-of-a-kind Paul Skenes Rookie Patch card out of one of the special boxes that they were selling with the understanding that the card was in one of them.

Has been a lot of stuff going on related to it--including an offer from the Pirates of season tickets somewhere behind the plate for 30 years. And Livvy Dunne has offered for him to come out and join her in her box for a game if he'd accept the Pirates offer. But it looks like now it will go to auction for several hundred thousand dollars (at least). My reading about it has been in The Athletic, and it's pretty wild stuff. I had no idea.........

The parents, btw, have gone to great lengths to keep the family's identity secret. But the kid was definitely a fan, and the box of cards was the only thing he wanted for Christmas. And he knew who Skenes was and what the redemption card was when he pulled it.

Amazing stuff. Skenes' card is one of the most sought after in years, for a variety of reasons. I was really stunned to read about it.

RECRUITING Recruiting Notebook: Post Junior day buzz

LSU held a massive junior day event on Saturday hosting several top prospects from across the region with a heavy emphasis on the state of Louisiana. I've been making calls and texts throughout the weekend trying to get as much intel on the latest buzz with LSU's top targets and here's a rundown of some of what we're hearing following LSU's junior day event on LSU's top targets for 2026 and 2027 and more following the weekend.
