With all of the

Michigan sign stealing crap, My paranoia has me hoping that Coach Kelly has already planned to change his signals for the second half. I would not put it past the midget to have a plan to steal LSU’s signals. The gumps have had some miraculous second half comebacks recently and it cannot be just an awesome coaching job. I do not doubt sign stealing is not part of it. Like I said it is my paranoia. JMHO

Head Coaches Handbook “ Coach Speak”

It’s apparent that every head coach the first day on the job is handed a thin booklet entitled “ Coach Speak “

This is required reading and contains every trite saying that has been used since the beginning of team sports

As fans we have been continuously exposed to the materiel in the booklet. since we began following sports

These sayings are splashed in bold headlines declaring that Coach Jones says that opponent has the best QB ever , the best defense of all time

Take Those ridiculous 20 sec. takes as the harried head coach is running off of the field at half time and a shapely young sideline reporter thrusts a microphone in his face to ask “ Coach , what do you think of your defense so far “
the coach responds “ We just have to tackle better” then dashes off leaving the audience to say “ now that was very enlightening “

LSU FOOTBALL 11/02 Brian Kelly Media Availability

  • No injuries to report. Wingo and Alexander are out, but those were to be expected.
  • Alabama likes to use play action to hit deep shots, so the safeties will have to play a great game on Saturday.
  • Last update he got on Greg Brooks was last week. He had another procedure to help in his recovery. He's in rehab and working through the process of getting right. He's still in a battle, but he is making progress.
  • Alabama has been one of the worst teams in the nation in sacks allowed, but he thinks a lot of those were early in the season and Milroe was holding on to the ball too long. He wishes the offensive line was bad, but that isn't the case. He thinks they're a very skilled O-line and says his team needs to find ways to get pressure.
  • He feels Garrett Dellinger has been a very good piece on the offensive line this season. He was able to have a full healthy offseason, and he thinks that has been a key piece in his improvement.
  • He's had a bigger role in the defense since the Ole Miss game. He feels the practice they had today defensively is night and day better than they were a few weeks ago before Missouri.
  • Says if the other teams knew what their signs were, it would be a massive disadvantage. Says if someone knows if you're running or passing every down, then it has a massive impact on the game.
  • After the FSU game, Kelly said this team isn't who he thought they were. He feels they're at that point now.
  • He feels pressures and disrupting the passer is just as important as sacks. Yes, he'd love to get the QB on the ground, but if you can disrupt the passer and make him miss a throw, that's still a big deal.
  • Says they've changed their signs up for Ole Miss because of Walker Howard and they're changing it this week. Says he has words that can be used 2-3 different ways, and they just change the meaning of those words for that particular game.

LSU BASKETBALL 11/02 Kim Mulkey Media Availability

Kim Mulkey previews LSU's matchup with #20 Colorado.

  • First thing she notices about Colorado is their upperclassman. 7 of their 8 main players are upperclassman. They're an experienced and talented group.
  • Also mentions they played their conference tournament in the venue they're playing in on Monday. Could be an advantage for Colorado.
  • Like the energy the ball movement from her starting lineup last night was really good. Needs to continue to work on the defensive end, but she feels they can get there with more experience.
  • She's really excited for the documentary coming out tonight on the team last season. She's really proud of the team at LSU that built it, because she thinks it's really good. Said she teared up watching it.
  • She talked about having celebrities and millionaires on her team. She said nothing about the coaching or locker room is different, the only thing that's different is the outside noise. She doesn't pay attention to social media or anything, and the only time she sees them is if someone sends it to her.
  • She says Colorado is playing LSU at the right time. She knows the Buffalos are good, and she's still trying to figure out who to play in what situations.
  • Said the starting five from last night will likely be the starting five for Colorado, but she could switch the starting five the very next game. She's basing it all on matchups.
  • Said she's more worried about the security for her players in Vegas than she is with her team being distracted. Said they'll spend some time having fun, but it's a business trip and they know that.
  • Felt her players began to "coast" during the exhibition game. They saw the score and started to let off the gas, but they can't do that on Monday.
  • Says HVL is a "basketball junky." She's never been a true point guard, but she's going to become LSU's primary ball handler. They won't take her shots away, but they need her to be a facilitate the offense. Says her transition will be similar to Alexis Morris from last year.
  • Says she doesn't care about the criticism about their non-conference schedule. Outside of Colorado and VT, they don't play a ranked team in non-conference play. She's not worried, she had a weaker schedule last season and they won the natty.
  • Said she would have liked to ease into the schedule, but saw this game as an opportunity to challenge and humble her team early. It won't make the team devastated if they lose, it would just make them hungrier.
  • Said Colorado plays a lot of man-to-man, but she saw on film that they are willing to play zone. They need to be ready for both.

LSU BASKETBALL Jalen Cook's waiver denied by NCAA

Former Tulane guard and Walker, Louisiana native, Jalen Cook, had his waiver denied by the NCAA. Cook looked like he was going to be LSU Men's Basketball's next star, but he is now ineligible to play this season. LSU sent additional information to the NCAA to see if they'll reconsider his case, but as of now, LSU will be without Jalen Cook for the season. A big blow for Matt McMahon and LSU Men's Basketball.

LSU BASKETBALL Kim Mulkey post game press conference notes

  • Felt the offense was much more efficient. They shot the ball much better and you can see that in the result.
  • Felt the bigs rebounded the ball much better this game. Pointed out Annesah Morrow have a big night on the boards (12 reb).
  • She pointed out that Loyola only lost three games last season, and she thinks they're better this year than last year. They were out two of their best players, but thinks they have a chance to do great things again this season.
  • Felt Flau'jae shot the ball confidently. Said she's a competitor and feels she improved so much last year, but still has another step she can take in her game.
  • Feels Angel and Annesah can compliment each other very well. They're both excellent rebounders and she wants to see them fighting for rebounds.
  • She saw exactly what she expected from Mikaylah Williams. She's lights out on offense, but has strides to take on defense. Feels she's getting better every day.
  • Loved to see her team share the ball in this game. Feels they did a good job making the extra pass and getting open shots.
