SEC If I were Mississippi State

I would offer Coach Prime, $7.0-$8.0M as hesd coach. If they don't, they might be stuck bring Dan Mullens again. I hate it for MSU as them being able to beat teams like Ole Miss and Arky benefits LSU. Before you say they couldnt, Prime is only making $5M at CU with a base of $500,000!!

The contract has Sanders scheduled to earn $5.5 million in his first season, with a base pay of $500,000 supplemented by $1.75 million for radio, television, and public appearances; another $1.75 million for promotion and fundraising; and another $1.5 million for "development of the student-athlete."

RECRUITING Julie: Football players that can be added…..

I saw a list that showed LSU currently has 75 players for the 2023 roster. That includes adding the remaining scholarship roster players and all the current commits. They may lose several more players and maybe a commit, but at this point they can add 10 more players to the roster from the portal or new commits to the class. As stated there may be several more losses, so the number could rise as high as 13 Or more. That is about 1/2 of a normal class.

If LSU gets to 85 there is an enormous amount of evaluating and recruiting to do in a short time. Of course they could give some of the walkons schollies, but probably not many.

These numbers seem pretty accurate to me. Are you thinking along these lines?

RECRUITING Transfer visit coming...

Newly offered transfer portal defensive lineman Paris Shand will be visiting LSU later this week. He spent time at Rutgers this past weekend and will also visit Ole Miss before arriving at LSU later in the week.

He told the Rivals Rutgers site that he enjoyed that visit and had a good time.

Over the past three seasons with Arizona, Shand appeared in 25 games and racked up 41 total tackles (22 solo), five sacks, two forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery.

Shand will have two years of eligibility to play at whatever school he chooses.

LSU also offered his Arizona teammate, Kyon Barrs.

RECRUITING Couple of Sunday notes

Sunday wrapped up the official visitor weekend in Baton Rouge for seven prospects: LSU commits Zalance Heard, Tyree Adams, Ashton Stamps, Dylan Carpenter and Kaleb Jackson, plus TE targets Jackson McGohan and Ka’Morreun Pimpton.

LSU has all of those commitments locked up and nothing to worry about as they’ll sign early.

Sounds like a great weekend overall with dinner in the middle of Tiger Stadium under a tent plus time at Brian Kelly’s house. I saw some pictures on Instagram, I can’t recall seeing a tent like that before in the past on the field. I’m sure that was a unique and fun experience for families.

I’m very confident in my McGohan FutureCast to LSU after this weekend. Sounds like it’ll be a toss up on Pimpton, who is tight with the Vanderbilt staff recruiting him. We’ll also have to see if he squeezes in a Texas visit after the Longhorns just visited.

The next week is setting up to be a big one with Javien Toviano announcing his decision Thursday followed by OVs from Isaac Smith and Desmond Ricks. No days off for this staff as we’re in the final days/weeks before the early signing period.
