  • Thinks the defense has done a really good job of learning the playbook over the summer and translating it to the field. They're running about 90% of their plays with minimal mistakes.
  • Says they're mixing and matching a lot of guys right now trying to figure out the depth chart. They're looking to build depth at the moment, and then will figure out who their starters are.
  • Harold Perkins is doing a great job at moving inside. Says he's fitting the run better than anyone right now. Thinks he hasn't even scratched the surface of his talent.
  • Says Jacobian has always been a big, strong player inside, but he's really grown as a leader off the field.
  • Said Zy Alexander has been progressing with his ACL. He's not fully back yet, and they don't have an exact timeline, but he's exceeded what Baker thought he'd be able to do at this point.
  • Stamps has worked his tail off this offseason to get better. He's always in the building and he's seen it paying off. He's looking for more consistency from him, though.
  • Says coming back here was bitter sweet. This is his home, but he really enjoyed his time at Missouri. At the end of the day, this is one of the few jobs that he told Drinkwitz he'd entertain.
  • Calls the defense inconsistent right now. Says when they're playing well, they're really good, but they're just inconsistent. Wants to see more player accountability.
  • Says most places only have fourish days of full tackling. They're on day two of it here. One of the things they're harping on is angles.
  • Thinks they have a fantastic offensive line and their defensive line has been inconsistent. They can beat them when they're playing well, but they can't do it consistently.
  • Calls his scheme very player friendly. They work hard to make it as easy to understand for their players to allow them to play faster.
  • Calls Whit Weeks a phenomenal football player. He's going to play and be a huge part in this defense.
