LSU FOOTBALL Now that we have the makings of a pretty good football team……

I would like to offer Coach Kelly the advice to install a running attack initially starting in spring practice. I think to have a serious running game you have to have hard nosed scrimmages. This is an activity that cause injuries which coaches don’t like. But IMO you will not generate a successful running game unless you do this.Even if you have good players and a good OL running the ball is a lot about attitude, especially with the blockers. IMO this is also the reason LSU has had a slow start under Kelly. They cannot run the ball early. This will also help the run defense.

I know that LSU is now a passing team and the pass protection is mostly good. We all like to see the passing attack. It is fun to watch as well as productive, but if we can’t run the ball and defend the run we will not meet our objectives of championships. Most previous coaches put the run in first and scrimmaged to get what I like to call the “attitude”. I feel that “attitude” also carries over to pass protection blocking and makes it better..

IMO these required scrimmages to perfect run blocking also prepare you better for the opening game.

Does anyone feel the same about this?

Rivals Combined Rankings

LSU up to #2 in combined recruiting rankings. Got to give some credit to Brian Kelly and the team. None of us thought we would have a completely rebuilt team by Christmas. Now "all" LSU football needs to do is beat Clemson next Fall. Easier said than done. Getting all the portal transfers on campus for Spring Football is huge.

LSU FOOTBALL WRU

LSU has 4 former WRs leading their teams in receiving
Chase , Thomas , Nabors and Jefferson ….
But Kayshon Boutte has 444 receiving yards for the Patriots . He has a very talented young QB Drake Maye throwing to him

Hopefully the woeful Giants will draft a QB to compliment Nabors talent

So you want to be an NFL WR …look no further than Baton Rouge

LSU FOOTBALL Two things not discussed on the Quad

recently because of the excitement over the portal commitments is the fact that Baylor yesterday was a 1 point favorite over LSU in the bowl and the ruling by the Supreme Court on the Vanderbilt QB’s eleligibility.

I presume Baylor being a 1 point favorite is due to the fact that 4 members of the OL and several other players will not play. I am not sure I believe it but Baylor has been successful at the end of the season winning its last 6 games.

The court decision was that the QB’s play in junior college did not count toward his elegibility. What’s a little scary is that it was a violation due to anti trust violations because it deprived him of the opportunity to earn NIL another year. So what comes next? Does a person who enters the portal claim he did not get a proper chance to earn a good NIL. You could wind up with players not being good enough to get drafter by the NFL but good enough playing 5 or 6 or more years.
