LSU FOOTBALL Total Offense/Total Defense Rankings (Week 2)

There is a lot more to the game than what stats show, but relative to who we play it might create a picture if you watch the trends. So I thought it'd be interesting to just keep a running total of the team stats from week to week. Draw from these numbers what you will. (As of Sunday Sept 8, 2004)

LSU FOOTBALL Expectations ?

What are your expectations for this program going forward for years

Considering NIL , the gorilla in the room . does LSU have the $$ to outbid the best teams
Will the addition of Tx and Okl make the road more difficult

Expectations for SEC. titles, playoff appearances , , national titles , 10-11 win seasons …..How frequently should we expect these to happen

LSU FOOTBALL 09/05 Brian Kelly Media Availability Notes

  • Garrett Dellinger is questionable and Chris Hilton is out for Saturday's game.
  • Their emphasis has been having balance in their offensive sets, not giving away what they're doing. Thinks the run game will be a strength this week.
  • He feels sick for John Emery Jr., but says they feel pretty good about the running back position for now.
  • Says 4th and 3 is a go for them. Just because they failed to convert of fourth in the first drive last year didn't mean anything when he decided to go for it this year. Would go for it again if the situation comes up.
  • Caden Durham will be involved going forward. Thinks he's had a good week and they've been working to find plays he, and the other backs, feel comfortable with.
  • They have moved freshman Ju'Juan Johnson to running back following the injury and says he could get some play this weekend at the position.
  • Says they had some static with the helmet mics on defense, but things went pretty well. Said communication was smoother on offense, but they expected that going in. Says they need to be quicker getting out the huddle and getting lined up, and that was a huge emphasis this week.
  • Pleased with Aaron Anderson's progress. He's been more focused and consistent, which has allowed him to get on the field and show his explosiveness on the field. Says he was really relying on his athleticism last year.
  • Says Ka'Morreun Pimpton is still learning. He's done some really good things, but has room for improvement. Says he's in a similar spot as Anderson last year.

LSU FOOTBALL John Emery Jr. out for season with torn ACL

The Advocate reports that John Emery Jr will miss the remainder of the 2024 season after tearing his ACL again in practice on Tuesday. Emery tore his ACL last year and made a speedy recovery and had a strong performance against USC where he rushed for 61 yards on 10 carries. Big blow for LSU, and you have to feel for him.

LSU FOOTBALL Hardest thing for me in this game...

...were the four or five 'almost turnovers'. This defense was specifically predicated on creating havoc and forcing turnovers to help cover some of their other deficiencies, and it almost worked, over and over again.

There will be plenty of legitimate reasons to gripe about this game, but a LOT of that is stuff that can be addressed, cleaned up and improved upon. If nothing about the game changed, not the individual performances nor the play-calling - nothing - changed EXCEPT 1 or 2 of those 'almost turnovers' had been ACTUAL turnovers, we win this game. Possibly going away.

LSU BASEBALL Paul Skenes

you cannot stop him, you can only hope to contain him....

5.0 innings, 0 runs, 4 hits, 6 Ks

The All-Star Rookie of the Year is now 9-2, 2.13 ERA, 114 innings, 142 Ks. Pirates have blow his lead 4 times now, including a 5 run lead in the 9th in his last start. He could be 13-2. damn!
