LIVE GAME THREAD Game 2: LSU (27-16, 6-13 SEC) vs Auburn (20-21, 2-17 SEC)

Gents, after yesterday's nearly perfect 5-0, 2-hitter gem, we are 6-13 (27-16 overall) and on our first 3-game winning streak since before conference play began. Gage Jump and Christian Little pitched a nearly perfect 2-hitter, possibly our best SEC game this year. And note: zero free passes last night, walks or hit batters. This has been a problem this year (4.95 per game) but not last night.

And now we have Luke Holman (6-3, 2.78 ERA, 55.0 IP, 18 BB, 79 SO) on the mound tonight. We need a bounce back game big time.

With our improving record and an RPI now at #34, we are not out of this yet. Win tonight and find a way to win tomorrow and we will be 8-13 with 9 games left, 6 of which are at home against beatable ole miss and bama. And with Gage and Holman pitching the first two games, we have a shot in College Station as well. Geaux Tigers.

AU – Sr. LH Tanner Bauman (2-2, 4.84 ERA, 22.1 IP, 10 BB, 27 SO)

Best guess at our line up tonight:

LIVE GAME THREAD Game 1: LSU (23-15, 3-12 SEC) @ Missouri (17-21, 5-10 SEC)

Gents, we are 3-12 and midweek games mean "diddly-poo" according to a local radio host so we are very likely out of the tournament. We probably have to be 14-16 to make a regional, so 11-4 is needed. We gotta start with sweeping Missouri if we want that to happen. Gage Jump gets the start tonight. Game is on the SEC Network and that Teddy Ruxpin channel.

We are going to call this the 'somebody has to win' series. Sweep Missouri and we are 6-12 and still have a small shot at the tournament.

LSU / Missouri History
LSU has an all-time record of 18-3 versus Missouri in a series that began in 1986 … in the teams’ most recent meeting, LSU swept three games from Mizzou in Baton Rouge on April 21-23, 2022 – all three of those games were decided by two runs or less … Missouri won two of three games in LSU’s last visit to Columbia on April 12-14, 2019 … since Mizzou joined the SEC beginning with the 2013 season, LSU owns a 16-3 mark in the series … LSU has a 7-2 all-time record in Columbia, including three-game sweeps in 2013 and 2016, and a 1-2 series loss to Missouri in 2019 … LSU held a 13-0 edge in the overall series before Mizzou posted its first victory over the Bayou Bengals, a 12-6 win in Game 2 of a weekend matchup in 2018 at Alex Box Stadium

Game 1
Friday, April 19 @ 7:00 p.m. CT (SEC Network, LSU Sports Radio, Z98, and Teddy Ruxpin YouTube Channel)
LSU – So. LH Gage Jump (2-1, 4.79 ERA, 35.2 IP, 15 BB, 43 SO)
Missouri – So. RH Logan Lunceford (1-2, 6.13 ERA, 39.2 IP, 11 BB, 35 SO)

Game 2
Saturday, April 20 @ 4:00 p.m. CT (SEC Network+, LSU Sports Radio, Z98, and Teddy Ruxpin YouTube Channel)
LSU – Jr. RH Luke Holman (6-2, 2.15 ERA, 50.1 IP, 16 BB, 75 SO)
Missouri – Jr. LH Javyn Pimental (1-2, 4.00 ERA, 36.0, 11 BB, 39 SO)

Game 3
Sunday, April 21 @ 2 p.m. CT (SEC Network+, LSU Sports Radio, Z98, and Teddy Ruxpin YouTube Channel)
LSU – God help us...
Missouri – TBA

My guess at the starting lineup:
1) 2B Steven Milam (.311 BA, 0 HRs, 20 RBIs)
2) 3B Tommy White (.333 BA, 12 HRs, 35 RBIs)
3) 1B Jared Jones (.289 BA, 15 HRs, 35 RBIs)
4) DH Hayden Travinski (.308 BA, 10 HRs, 33 RBIs)

7) SS Michael Braswell (.292 BA, 1 HR, 18 RBIs)
8) C Brady Neal (.256 BA, 5 HRs, 20 RBIs) or Alex Milazzo (.289 BA, 0 HRs, 5 RBIs)
9) CF Josh Pearson (.228 BA, 5 HRs, 14 RBIs) or Paxton Kling (.212 BA, 1 HR, 16 RBIs)

LIVE GAME THREAD Game 1: LSU (26-16, 5-13 SEC) vs Auburn (20-20, 2-16 SEC)

Gents, we are now 5-13 after winning our first SEC series last week verses Missouri. The record we are hearing to make a regional is 13-17, so sweeping Auburn and improving to 8-13 would go a long way. Long shot to make the tournament but not 100% out yet. Gage Jump gets the Friday start again tonight after last week's great start which saves Luke Holman for Game 2 again. I like our chances.

Geaux Tigers

2) 2B Steven Milam (.304 BA, 2 HRs, 22 RBIs)
3) 3B Tommy White (.341 BA, 15 HRs, 41 RBIs)

LSU FOOTBALL Frank Wilson and Brad Davis extended

Both Frank Wilson and Brad Davis were entering the final year of their deals, so Brian Kelly got ahead of the curve and extended both of them through 2026.

From Wilson Alexander with the Advocate: "The LSU board of supervisors on Friday approved the amended contracts, which include annual salary bumps. Davis will earn an average of $940,000 per year over the next three years. Wilson will earn roughly $1 million per year during the same time period."

LSU FOOTBALL Scout's Take: Former NFL Scout breaks down LSU WR Brian Thomas Jr.

Former NFL Scout Daniel Kelly returns to break down former LSU receiver Brian Thomas Jr. ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft. Something tells me he might lose some LSU fans with his break down of Brian Thomas Jr.

LSU FOOTBALL Joseph Cryer and John Emery Jr. enter transfer portal

Tuesday morning, two LSU Tigers - Joseph Cryer and John Emery Jr. - entered their name into the transfer portal.

Cryer, a three-star offensive guard in the Tigers 2024 class and a Natchitoches native, is already leaving before making it through the summer. Emery, a former four-star RB who's been at LSU since 2019, will use his final year of eligibility elsewhere.
