LSU FOOTBALL 10/25 Brian Kelly Media Teleconference

  • Says they practiced yesterday and today, they'll do some strength and conditioning Thursday and Friday and he said the players will get the weekend off.
  • Says Emery Jones will be available for the Bama game. He's practicing today and they expect he'll be a full participant in Monday's practice.
  • Still in an evaluation process on Zy Alexander's injury. He was asked if it was season ending and he said they'll be able to tell more as the season goes on.
  • He's a big proponent of having radios in helmets. Doesn't understand why they still use signs and hand signals.
  • Feels he gives his offensive coordinators the freedom to add their own flavor to the offense.
  • When asked about what Denver and Deuce have to do to get back to active status: Says there are internal things that need to happen that he can't discuss.
  • Feels Alabama has a very talented defense. Big and physical D-line, long linebackers, athletic secondary. Thinks their skill positions on offense are underrated. Feels Milroe has been able to take big strides in his development the past few weeks and has become a dual threat guy.
  • Thought the win over Alabama last year helped build the recruiting and momentum in the program. Says those wins are a step in the right direction, but says they need to do those things consistently if they want to get into the same conversation as Alabama and Georgia.

Total Yards: 1,967 (245.9/game)
Total TD's: 21

Michael Penix: (7-0, 1-0 vs. ranked opponent)
182 of 257 (70.8%) for 2,576 yards (10.2 avg), 20 TD's and 5 INT's
11 rushes for 3 yards (0.3 avg) and 0 TD's.
Total Yards: 2,579 (368.4/game)
Total TD's: 20

Caleb Williams: (6-2, 0-2 vs. ranked opponents)
166 of 237 (70.0%) for 2,277 yards (9.6 avg.), 23 TD's and 4 INT's
61 rushes for 143 yards (2.3 avg) and 7 TD's
Total Yards: 2,420 (302.5/game)
Total TD's: 30

Jayden Daniels:
(6-2, 1-2 vs. ranked opponents)
163 of 223 (73.1%) for 2,573 yards (11.5 avg.), 25 TD's and 3 INT's
91
rushes for 521 yards (5.7 avg) and 5 TD's.
Total Yards: 3,094 (386.75/game)
Total TD's: 30

Daniels leads in every meaningful statistic except for passing yardage, where he is just 3 yards behind Penix. McCarthy doesn't come close to him in yardage, Penix doesn't come close to him in TD's and no one comes close to him in rushing. And he's done it against tougher competition.

LSU FOOTBALL Brian Kelly updates us on the cornerbacks

Brian Kelly said after the game that Zy Alexander suffered a lower body injury and they'll know more within the next couple of days. He also said Denver Harris was not available for the game today, but didn't give us a reason.

The Tigers were already short on cornerback depth, now they're really going to be reaching to find guys who are ready to play.
