RECRUITING Fact or Fiction: Bryce Underwood should be the No. 1 overall player in the 2025 class

I joined National Recruiting Director Adam Gorney for the latest installment of fact or fiction. My topic was whether or not Bryce Underwood should be the No. 1 overall player in the 2025 class.

  • Miles Frazier, Jacobian Guillory, Slade Roy and Bradyn Swinson all graduated yesterday.
  • Said they struggled offensively today. They had some young guys out there today. Weston Davis and Paul Mubanga had to go up against Swinson and Guillory, and they got beat bad. Wanted to get them reps against the ones and learn how to adjust to mismatches in games.
  • they’ve had a bug going around the offensive lineman. DJ Chester got sent home because he was sick, Emery Jones was fighting it, but practiced. Same with the Weeks brothers.
  • They’re moving Tyree Adam’s around. He played some guard with the first team today. Says he’s the sixth guy on the line.
  • Chris Hilton banged up his ankle, but they think he’ll be fine.
  • Thinks Nuss needs to get better at making checks on pressures. Takes too many timeouts, so he needs to learn to read those pressures and make changes on the fly.
  • Says we’ll see much more 12 and 13 personnel this year than last year. Says Trey’Dez and Ka’Morreun have really shown out this fall. Said both have taken huge steps as blockers this fall.
  • When they decided to start Campbell and Jones as freshman, they knew they had a special offensive line coming. Thinks this is going to be an outstanding offensive line. Says he had some good groups at Notre Dame, and thinks this one stacks up with the best of them. When it’s tough on offense, he thinks they’ll be able to bully the defense in the run game.
  • Will start prep for USC on Tuesday.
  • Likes the way the CBs have held up on the outside. Came into camp with big question marks, and they’ve done a good job of answering some of them. The biggest thing was eliminating chunk plays.
