I reached out to Alabama transfer cornerback Desmond Ricks this morning about a possible visit to Baton Rouge.

"I’m not visiting LSU because Coach Kelly is still upset about last year," said Ricks, who reclassified to 2023 and chose the Crimson Tide over Florida and LSU.

As mentioned in a previous thread, Ricks is visiting Texas A&M today, according to national recruiting analyst Adam Friedman.

LSU BASKETBALL LSU vs Ole Miss Post Game Presser Notes

Chris Beard and Brandon Murray
  • Brandon Murray Said LSU didn't do anything to change their three point shooting, they just weren't making shots.
  • Murray said his return to LSU was great, but they didn't get the win so he's not too worried about it.
  • Chris Beard talked about his team making a run at it late in the game. Said there weren't many positives tonight, but he liked his teams fight.
  • Thinks his team is still a work in progress. Thinks they've had good moments, but they're looking for consistency.
  • Credits LSU's defense for how tough they played. Thinks they have a defensive identity and try to turn you over, and they "fell for it early."
Matt McMahon
  • Really fired up over the win. Proud of his teams effort and toughness.
  • Credited the fans that came out tonight. Said they were loud and played a role in this game.
  • Thought their second half defense was great outside of the fouls. Also thought their offensive execution in the second half was terrific.
  • Said a key stat from this game was that they had just seven assists all night.
  • Thought Jalen Cook struggled in the first half, but says you need your big time players to step up in big time moments, and he did.
  • Called Jordan Wright's performance tonight "pretty impressive." I think that's an understatement.
  • Said they have a long way to go, but they're trying to build this program back. They're such a better team today than they were a few weeks ago, and that's credit to the players. Thinks they deserve to have a crowd like tonight's every night.
  • Thought they were able to create high quality shots in the second half and that's why they were so efficient.
  • Said he loved the way his team responded after the big loss to Auburn. During the second half, they were trailing by 28, but cut it to one score. Thought that was the first step to getting back to winning.
  • Called the SEC "18 one-game seasons." Says every win is important and thinks every game is a must win game.
  • Calls for another great crowd on Saturday at 3pm against Texas A&M. Emphasizes how big the crowd was in this game.
  • Thinks Cook has helped the offensive spacing. They weren't even close to a positive assist to turnover ratio, but since he's been back, that has completely switched. Says Jalen has a lot to do with that, but it's also everyone on the team who's been better.
Tyrell Ward and Jordan Wright
  • Wright says he came here for nights like tonight. Called it his favorite and best game as a Tiger so far.
  • Wright calls the first four minutes of the second half critical. Said coach called some plays for him to get him going, and he just knocked down some shots.
  • Wright has always had good games against Ole Miss. Says he doesn't know why, but it's become a trend.
  • Ward talked about his big three's down the stretch. When the offense isn't going, he feels he can provide a spark to get them going again, and that's what he's done the last couple of games.
  • Wright talked about his defensive performance, said he attributes some of his ability to jump the passing lanes to his old days as a safety in football.
  • Both of them said they didn't want to role over against Auburn which fueled the comeback (which fell short). The focus today was to come out hot and find a way to win and move to 3-1 instead of 2-2.
  • Ward said you can't let losses pile up, especially in the SEC. Said they're goal is to not lose at home.
  • Said facing one of the best three point shooting teams in the country lit a fire under him on the defensive end. Said they were determined to not let them run them out of the building offensively.

LSU FOOTBALL Brian Thomas Jr Moving Up to 1st Round

The latest NFL Mock Draft has Brian Thomas Jr going 15th now. Looks like those 2 extra TD's in the bowl game gave him some separation over a few other WRs.

Here's to Thomas for recognizing the bowl game CAN make a difference in draft position, and making the most of the opportunity.

LIVE GAME THREAD LSU MBB vs Ole Miss Live Game Thread *6pm CT*

LSU MBB tips off against No. 22 Ole Miss in about thirty minutes. Here's some notes about the Rebels:
  • Ole Miss is 15-1 this season with their only loss coming to No. 6 Tennessee.
  • The Rebels are very efficient when they shoot the three, knocking down 40% of their attempts as a team. Matthew Murrell and Jaylen Murray shoot 40.6% and 44% from behind the arc.
  • They rank 348th out of 362 teams at defending the offensive glass, so there will be opportunities for second chance points.
  • However, they rank 47th in the nation in field goal % allowed. Only 40% of their opponents shots go in, so the Tigers are going to need to be selective tonight and make sure they're not chucking up bad shots.
