The Astros Foundation College Classic returns to Minute Maid Park from March 1-3, 2024. LSU FOOTBALL 11 LSU football players named to first-year SEC academic honor roll

Eleven members of the LSU football team have been named to the First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll, the league office announced on Thursday.

LSU’s list includes nine true freshmen and a pair of transfers in punter Jay Bramblett and kicker Trey Finison.

Freshman All-America linebacker Harold Perkins, who is majoring in sports administration, along with Freshman All-SEC tight end Mason Taylor, a management manager, headlined the list for the Tigers.

Bramblett, who earned second team Academic All-America honors, made the list after transferring from Notre Dame. Bramblett is pursuing a master’s degree in leadership.

Other LSU players on the list include: offensive lineman Bo Bordelon (management), long snapper Jake Davis (biochemistry), kicker Nathan Dibert (construction management), quarterback George Hamsley (international trade and finance), wide receiver Cowinn Helaire (chemical engineering), wide receiver Landon Ibieta (kinesiology), and offensive lineman Wes Woodward (political science).

The First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2022-23 academic calendar. In order to be considered for this honor, student-athletes must have maintained at least a 3.0 grade point average during that timeframe.

RECRUITING Two LSU targets announcing soon

Both of these guys are scheduled to announce commitments this week. Calloway on Friday, Miller on Thursday.

I have a FutureCast in on Calloway to land with the Tigers. Doesn’t sound promising for LSU to land Miller. Think he’ll be staying in-state to A&M.

Also have a FC in on the Tigers to land WR Jelani Watkins. I don’t think he has a date set yet. That would put the Tigers at Watkins, JoJo Stone, Kylan Billiot and Michael Turned Jr. for this class. I could see them taking one more if it was the right guy but I don’t think they need it.

LSU BASEBALL Turn on a dime

Yes LSU was soundly beaten but if Thompson doesn’t commit the error leading to 4 unearned runs the game is still tied

Johnson doesn’t bring in the back end of his bullpen essentially conceding defeat in an effort to save his better pitchers for today

instead he uses his best relievers and the outcome could have been much different

Thats a lot of ifs but it’s a way of looking at it

LSU Women’s Basketball SEC Home-Away Opponents Announced

The SEC announced LSU’s opponents for the upcoming women’s basketball season Wednesday morning, headlined by LSU hosting South Carolina.

In Coach Kim Mulkey’s first two seasons at LSU, the Tigers have finished second in the league twice and will enter the upcoming season as the defending national champions. South Carolina won the league during both of those seasons and won the 2022 national championship.

In addition to hosting South Carolina, LSU will also host Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, and Missouri. The Tigers will go on the road to face Georgia, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt. LSU will have home-and-home series with Texas A&M, Auburn, and Alabama.

Times, dates and television information will be announced at a later date.

Reactions: Oregon Tiger

My take on JJ

offensively minded coach.. he will play and offensive minded players over defensive minded players , same goes for recruiting . In a interview he said " We had a championship offense team last year .. but our Pitching was subpar" so knew if we are going to compete for Natty"s, our pitching staff would have to be upgraded. Above average recruiter, recognizes his personal and can evaluate , not willing to give up on a player he believes in .. plus other qualities . thus is what we have a winner.
