LSU FOOTBALL Very confused tonight about Arkansas' defensive line movement...

We all watched the first few games of the year as LSU's defensive line was flagged again and again (and again) for their coordinated shifts before the snap because they were thought to be trying to induce movement on the OL... and now, I watch Arky do it again and again, and instead of them getting flagged for it, our OL is. Can anyone explain to me whatever the nuance is in the rules that makes it illegal for us to both attempt AND fall victim to?

LSU FOOTBALL Interesting statistic, especially for the gamblers among us...

Man, they have stats for everything. Moscona just dropped this factoid.

In games where his team is playing their 2nd consecutive road game on normal rest, CBK is 14-3-1 (77.8%) against the spread. The last time he lost a game where his team was playing their 2nd consecutive game on the road on normal rest was 20 years ago when he was coaching at central Michigan.

LSU FOOTBALL 11/24 Brian Kelly Media Availability

  • Chris Hilton practiced today in "full capacity." Jordan Allen is dealing with turf toe.
  • Says Hilton has made progress over the last few weeks and it's more of a conditioning thing than a foot thing now. Don't want him to go out there and pull a hamstring or injure himself more because he's not ready.
  • They were blaring music as we walked in to the presser today. Says they're not too worried about the noise and their communication, but they just want them to get lined up and communicate a bit faster than they did last week. Don't want the offensive line to be in a three point stance for 20+ seconds, like they were at times last week.
  • Said the secondary stuff A&M does is similar to what Mike Elko did with him at Notre Dame, but the front seven has shown some new things he didn't see when Elko was with him.
  • Calls A&M a different team from the one who lost to Notre Dame in week one. Says there's not a whole lot they can get from looking back that far, so they're focusing more on the more recent weeks.
  • Doesn't think his team had an identity early in the season, but the last few weeks they've found one, especially on defense. The edges are getting after the QB, their LB tandem is playing at a high level and their secondary is doing their job.
  • Calls Garrett Nussmeier a playmaker who can come up with big plays when you desperately need it. Says their offensive pieces are "coming together at the right time."
  • Thinks a big part of their defensive success has been based around confidence. Early on, they didn't make many plays on defense, but recently their guys have started to make some big plays and it's built their confidence up.
  • Says he spent time talking to his team about not looking ahead and focusing on this game. Says you don't want to sit around all next week during the bye with regrets.

LSU FOOTBALL CBK on RB Caden Durham

True Freshman quickly becoming one of my favorites!

Got hurt vs South Alabama after scoring 2nd TD ; big 325lb Miles Frazier falls on the back of his leg .....he limps off field to the sideline ; didn't look good and was hoping not a significant Foot injury. Surprisingly ....he came back in the game ; after a few runs ; re-aggrevated it..... That was it for the game.

After the BYE Week.....was pleased to see him playing vs Ole Miss ; but you could clearly see he was not close to 100% . But Durham's toughness gutted it out!!

So despite rushing for 101 yards 3 TDs on 21 carries vs Arkansas ; CBK said he was ""ONLY 80% """ healthy...WOW!! IMPRESSIVE!! And still ran that 22 yard TD too!!!

Heard he had a couple dislocated toes?? Props to this Tough Dude!!

quote:

"I'm really impressed with a freshman running back that is not playing at 100 percent, but in there playing with grit and toughness," Kelly said.

"Just the kind of resolve that he has... a lot of guys would not be in the game. He's playing at about 80-85 percent. He has great vision and toughness and keeps his legs moving."

"Injuries are hard to deal with at any position. But when you are a running back, and you have an injury, and you're still fighting through it. I think it says a lot about the young man. I'm really proud of him."
