RECRUITING Friday morning QB note

So many discussions about Walker Howard since we found out he was hitting the portal but in today’s world of college football it’s impossible to keep a loaded, talented QB room. LSU’s scholarship QBs currently look like Jayden Daniels, Garrett Nussmeier and Rickie Collins. They have the commitment of Colin Hurley for 2024 and I don’t think he’s going anywhere.

It’s time to start looking at 2025, and it may seem early, but you have to develop relationships with these QBs to be picked in the end. Joe Sloan is already looking at 2025s.

A few have visited LSU during the fall for games like George MacIntyre, Emile Picarella and Cutter Boley but Sloan has also been communicating with Ryan Montgomery, who has offers from Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, Tennessee and several more.

Montgomery has visited numerous programs over the years all across the country with his dad and brother, Luke Montgomery, who signed with Ohio State in December.

Sloan will be visiting Luke in Ohio this week. The contact period starts today so a lot of coaches will be hitting the road and having recruits visit on weekends. Could lead to Ryan coming down for a summer and/or fall visit. I think Georgia and Ohio State are the two programs near the top of his list right now from the information I’ve gathered.

Anybody else think

It will be really hard for a QB that comes to a big time football school like LSU, Alabama or Georgia as a freshman to get the starting spot with the transfer portal? Every year there will be good, experienced QB’s in the portal. Take Howard for example. Let’s say he stayed and Nuss left. Daniel’s would start next year. Year 3 for Howard should be his year. Then a “Jayden Daniels” type QB wants to transfer to LSU. Just like this past year, Kelly has to go with the experienced QB over one with none. So my question is, when do these guys get a shot? I’m thinking even with Arch Manning. If it’s year 2 for him and a Caleb Williams(who transfered) type QB wants in at Texas. Will they say no, we’re gonna give the inexperienced guy the gig? I don’t think they can. Maybe I’m wrong, idk. What y’all think?

The Magic and Mythology of Joe Burrow’s Deep Passing Game

Really well written story worth reading on Burrow.

In his first two years leading the Texas Longhorns ,former Alabama offensive “genius”,
Steve Sarkesian ,sports a 13-12 record in the weak Big -12 including going 2-7 vs ranked opponents

Its been two years but Horn fans are already growing discontent after watching first year coaches like Sonny Dykes and Brian Kelly have fabulous seasons

Longhorn faithful have to be wondering what’s Sarkesian going to do when the join the SEC and face ranked teams almost every week
