LSU FOOTBALL 12/13 Brian Kelly Media Availability

  • He challenged the LSU fan base and donors to help the team financially. He put his money where his mouth was and will be matching up to a million dollars to TAF to help with the NIL situation. Thought it should start with him and help motivate others to join.
  • They'll have a "competitive football team" that will challenge Baylor in the bowl game. Says everyone who's on the field is excited about playing in the Texas Bowl.
  • Says they'll have to be creative at TE in the bowl game, but they're comfortable with what they can do.
  • Garrett is 100% healthy, but they're keeping him on a pitch count to be safe in practice after his shoulder injury.
  • Campbell and Jones won't play in the bowl game. Says Paul Mubenga, DJ Chester, Tyree Adams, Bo Bordelon, Coen Echols, Miles Frazier (who could move to tackle), Weston Davis will all play in the bowl game.
  • Thinks they'll be able to get what they need out of the portal. Says recruiting in this model is "not ideal."
  • Bauer Sharp brings physicality in the run game. They've seen other TEs who can catch passes, but they like what he does in the run game.
  • Always had a sense Nussmeier was going to come back.

RECRUITING Flipping perspective:

While Cotton, et. al. have had a lot of angst over the "flips" what has been lost in the shuffles is LSU's damn strong 2024 class. I always judge a class by star average, imo bonus points for certain players can certainly skewer the rankings ; the preceding is how rivals massages the rankings. A star average above 3.5 is a solid class , anything above 3.7 is outstanding. LSU's class is a 4.0 average star ranking which is awesome, only one other team has a higher star ranking of 4.1. LSU had 3 five stars, 3 three stars and 17 four stars. LSU has never had a class average star ranking this high.
Yea losing Underwood sucked, but this 2024 class is full of talent at most every position.
Cotton , et. al. you can step back from the ledge LSU has a damn strong class of Tiger Cubs on the way. By the way ,how the hell is Alabama ranked ahead of LSU?

LSU FOOTBALL Breaux….

Does anyone think they might move Breaux back to DE with Savion Jones leaving and the cupboard somewhat bare with edge players? This kid can play anywhere and was originally a DE before being moved to DT. That would give them the option of recruiting a DT to replace him if DE recruits and edge rushers are hard to come by. It also gives them a decent starting front 4 of b Breaux, McKinley, Guillory and Reliford. They would still need to recruit depth at DE and DT from the portal, but would give them more options..

RECRUITING SAFETIES in Transfer Portal

Seems LSU is getting a little thin at the Safety position

This guy played on a bad Purdue team ; but considered by many being a Top 5 Safety in the Nation
