LSU FOOTBALL LSU hiring Kevin Peoples as an assistant coach - Story added

LSU hires former Missouri defensive line coach, Kevin Peoples, as an assistant coach. With the addition of People and Bo Davis, I'd assume Davis will have the title of defensive line coach, but will focus more on the interior of the line while Peoples focuses on the edge rushers. Another great hire for Brian Kelly and LSU as they rebuild this defense.

OFF TOPIC Florida State hit with NIL violation

Florida State was hit with a Level II NIL violation by the NCAA for one of their assistant coaches helping facilitate an NIL deal for a potential transfer. Said coach got in contact with the recruit, helped set up a visit and transported him to an off-site location to meet with a booster who offered him a deal around 15,000 dollars per month for his first year at FSU. The booster then contacted him and his family after the meeting via phone calls and text messages.

Shortly after, the transfer withdrew his name and stayed at his own school. FSU was hit with multiple penalties including:
  • A three-year disassociation from the booster
  • One-year disassociation from the collective
  • $5,000 fine + 1% of football budget
  • 5% reduction in scholarships over two-year period (total of 5 scholarships)
  • Reduction in football recruiting communications for six weeks during 2023-24 and 2024-25.

LSU BASKETBALL 01/12 Matt McMahon Media Availability

McMahon previews the Tigers road trip to No. 16 Auburn.
  • Studied Auburn's film for days and said he can't find any weaknesses. They're one of the best overall teams in the country on both sides of the ball.
  • Wants his players to embrace the crowd. Auburn's arena is rowdy, so he doesn't want them to get overwhelmed.
  • They've gone against a lot of guard-centric teams recently, but Auburn's top scorers are forwards. They need to find ways to limit their bigs.
  • Damion Collins and Mwani Wilkinson are both healthy and available for Saturday's game.
  • Says the deal with getting Jalen Cook back was very chaotic. They came out of shoot around and heard about the restraining order and they were very confused on whether he could play that night, but they held off and let him prepare for the Texas game.
  • His favorite thing about Mike Williams is that he's super coachable and wants to win. He's improved everyday and has been willing to take a backseat to Jalen Cook when he returned.
  • Thinks that having a lot of time off during christmas break allowed them to get better. They had a lot to fix, but he said the players put their heads down and went to work and you've seen some of the improvements.
  • Thinks Auburn plays the game the right way. They share the ball and don't worry about individual stats, so it makes them really hard to guard.
  • Said they need to worry about what Auburn is going to do, but their main focus is what they can do to slow down Auburn's high powered offense.
  • Carlos Stewart has been out of practice with knee soreness. No structural issue, but he likely won't play tomorrow.
  • Says the rotation has become clearer over the last month. What we're seeing now will likely be their rotation for the rest of the year.
  • Will Baker has had a slow start to SEC play statistically, but he thinks Baker has been doing the intangibles well. He's setting great screens and doing the little things right.

LSU FOOTBALL LSU expected to hire Bo Davis as defensive line coach - Story added

Brian Kelly makes another splash hire, this time poaching Bo Davis from Texas. Davis played at LSU from 1990-1992 and helped Texas have one of the best defensive lines in the nation this year. A huge hire for Brian Kelly as he tries to replace the majority of the defensive staff.

LSU BASKETBALL 1/11 Kim Mulkey Postgame Press Conference

- Says if you look at box score they all look the same. Thinks the more they get on the floor the better they will get. A 17 point lead should've been a 30 point lead and she takes responsibility for the substitutions. The problem is how do we give up this many points.

- Says that Angel will find you, find the ball. She is not a coach who lives by the three. They can all shoot the three but they do not have too.

- Says she tells Aalyah Del Rosario to not have her foot on the free throw line. She wants her to not play soft.

- Says Angel double and triple teamed last year and this year she is not and is still finding her players. If she is struggling with shots she will find a player or get to the foul line. She is a very unselfish player.

- They have been getting to the free throw line more. The players are ballers and they have the ability to make them guard you and if they do not score the ball they will get fouled. They are talented kids.

- Says she wants to play more players. That comes with making coach confident in giving them all play time.

- Says she was on the phone with an Alabama fan and her son was texting her saying Nick Saban was retiring. She has never met Nick Saban but went out her way to shake his hand. She says he is a winner, a leader of people in a locker room. He went out on his terms and had an unbelievable season and he will be missed. She thinks all coaches should go out the way he did and he did it with class.

- Says she mentioned in the scouting report that Texas A&M was the top defense. It was not our offense against their defense. She never talks about our offense because that is not a worry with this team.

- Says that she does not look at how many free throws her opponent scores. Says you have to control the game and it starts with coach and a point guard.

- Hailey shot the ball in abundance at Louisville. Hailey comes here knowing what LSU has. That told coach she has some unselfishness and she sacrificed herself knowing the position she was coming here to play. She has done everything coach has asked her to do and she will get better and better that you need to do as a point guard. Defensively they have to teach her to channel them to the sideline. Kim wants Hailey to slow down and get angels.
