LSU BASKETBALL 11/16 Kim Mulkey Post Game Press Conference

- Says that Angel Reese was not in uniform and she is a part of this team and she hopes that we see her back. She said she will not speak about anything on Angel Reese anymore.

- Kim says she was proud of her team, proud of Southeastern. She wanted to come back to her state and coach in a positive state and she is glad she did that.

- Says Flau'jae is recovering from the flu and she came of the bench and was a spark tonight. She never punishes a kid for being injured or sick. Says she liked the line up she had out there. Last-Tear Poa played good and allowed Hailey Van Lith back to the wing to play.

- She is proud of how her defense played tonight.

- Thought Aneesha Morrow was strong again, says she missed some shots that she could've made but she is really proud of them.

- Says this is there first true road game and says this is a big game for Southeastern. She thought we maintained control throughout the game. Neither team could hit baskets in some parts of the game.

- Says they seperated and did good starting the 3rd quarter tonight.

- Says her homecoming was good being able just to hug people. She is proud that she bit the bullet and came back here to play. She was proud to see that many people in the arena, especially on friday night football during playoffs.

- Says she got bored the hour before she took the floor and all she does is look at the walls so she decided to just go up the stairs. She was not reminiscing but if she looks across the gym she can see her old high school.

- Says Flau'jae Johnson is just an improved player from last year, her defense of principles, her size, and when coach tells her do other things than just score, she does that. Says Flau'jae shot pretty good from the foul line. Says she wants a 2-1 ratio and we did not have that tonight.

11/16 Kim Mulkey Media Availability

- She says she has always been very careful with in state schools she plays. Says Southeastern coach called her at a good time and they wanted her to come back so she can sell the place out and have her back in her hometown. She was bragging on Southeastern's team because they made it to the playoffs and lost to Iowa. It means a big deal to her that it's her hometown and she is so thankful its sold out. Says it will be good for the game of basketball, Southeastern and for LSU. Says her mom will not have to travel far.

- Says it's amazing what confidence will do for Sa'Myah Smith. She is leaping forward, her confidence is out the roof right now. She says you love to see young people be rewarded. She says Sa'Myah Smith stayed all summer and it shows. She is a quiet young lady and one who is playing lights out.

- Says she doesn't know what is on social media. Says she has been doing this for 40 years. She just coaches and gets her team prepared.

- Says the 3rd and 4th quarter was amazing against Kent State. Says to look at what everyone else did. There style of play is what allowed them to score the points they did. The explanation she is trying to tell us is that the more you play the better the defense will get. She says there was a flow last game that was exciting and she spent more time complimenting them.

- Says her team evolved by being excited and happy with each. Says they can score a lot of point but there is some more practice that needs to be done on the defensive side of the ball. There has been improvement on the defense side of the ball.

- Being together creates chemistry. The only teams that do not have to build chemistry our teams that have 8, 9 or 10 players coming back. We don't have the luxury of that but we just have to do what we have to do.

- She has a cousin out there so she doesn't want her to have a good game. She is a good player though. Says you will see Southeastern is a well coached team. As she watched them last year and this year, they execute, there athletic and are athletic at all positions, there confident and have NCAA experience. Exciting for Southeastern to be sold out.

- Says she has 4 state championships at her high school. She can imagine when they pull up she will see all of her old high school classes, its her hometown and its where she grew up. She will see alot of friends and family.

11/16 Brian Kelly Media Availability

- Says Logan Diggs is doubtful for Georgia State. Says Jayden has had a lot of attention all year and they have had crew doing documentary and have had cameras around all year. He does a great job with keeping away the distractions and keeping the important things important. He gets here in the morning gets his work done and will stay here to be ready for practice.

- Says that you look at what Jaydens versatility is, nobody runs like he can. His ability to run the ball down the field, nobody is as close as him in terms of 20 plus yards. He is a guy that takes the energy out of the opposition. He changes the momentum.

- Says he thinks that all of the records are certainly what builds the program. What they look for at lsu is a standard that they can recruit to. There not the most important in the program. Says it gets the attention of the group their recruiting. They made a dent in the country in the type of offense we are running.

- Says he can start with Jayden Daniels and how we got lost in his rise and development as a quarterback. Says he doesn't think anyone had him as a heisman candidate in the beginning of the season. Brian Thomas, Garrett Dellinger had a great year. Says from a d-line standpoint, Jacobian Guillory has really progressed. With Greg Penn, he has seen improvement from week to week. Maason Smith has been doing good the last weeks.

- No more injuries reported this week.

- He has seen a change in Brian Thomas' mindset. Says there is a change in his focus, attention to detail, blocking down field, catching the ball. He is proud of his growth and maturity and he has earned all of it. It started with his focus and determination in the classroom. He wanted to take this lead.

- Says we expect to be part of championship play and post season play. He is a fan of 12 teams. Started his career in division II and its exciting he says, and great for college football. Says were 15th and we can hopefully get a little bit of help and slide in. Says there is still some work to do. Says it's about how you finish. His focus is to finish the season strong.

- Says last year it was acquisition over retention this year it is retention over acquisition. Retention is their want and desire to be there. Says you have to add opportunities like " I want to develop here" "look at nil opportunity," all of those are apart of retention. Last year it was a heavy acquisition and then retention.

- Says his third year wherever he has been, it is a comfort level. Everyone from the night cleaning crew, to the freshman who are here for 6 months, everyone knows what the standard is. Says there is no need to be slowed down by people that are not on the same page. As they go into the offseason there will be great momentum going into year three.

- He says it would be great for the media if we played Notre Dame in the bowl game. He hopes we get a bowl matchup that everyone is excited for but right now his focus is Georgia State.

LSU BASKETBALL Angel Reese BENCHED the entire second half vs Kent State. Anybody asking why?

I have my suspicions. She's not engaged or connected. There is no fire or motivation. She looks slow, lazy and uninspired and brings very little effort to the court. She has no game to speak of outside the paint and it doesn't look like she worked on it much in the offseason. So I went back to the Colorado game, watched some highlights (or lowlights). This is what I found that might explain why Mulkey might be losing patience with Reese.

8:20 - Angel watches a driving player past right by her uncontested.
8:46 - After the previous clip she scores but watch what she does when she comes back on defense. (Absolutely nothing!)
9:40 - Another driving player...no effort to play defense. No effort to stop or redirect their PG. (They show a slo-mo replay. Watch it). Reese stood there and just watch her drive and score.
10:58 - I'm no more than a pickup basketball player, but even I can see this play Colorado is running a mile away. So I'm playing the ball holder on her right hip to stop the guard that's driving. Reese was late to reposition herself and drew a PF + 1.
11:10 - Who is Coach Mulkey looking at and what is she thinking? (We might have an idea)
11:18 - Look at the look Velez gives Sherrod. Like she want's a piece of her. (We might need a little of that Bronx, NY attitude on the court)
15:12 - After Colorado steals the ball, watch Reese get back on defense. She becomes a spectator.
15:40 - NO effort to position for rebound. Walks back on defense.
17:03 - Reese no effort to assist Smith contest the shot. She's actually backing away from the driving player.

Reese sits on bench for a while

25:14 - Watch Reese's effort to stop the ball.
27:13 - Reese gets pushed around on defense.
27:22 - She never made it back on defense.
30:14 - Outnumbered and she never drops down to help. Walks and watches.
31:14 - Reese's effort says, I don't care.

After this Reese is removed from game.

I haven't gone through the other games, but my guess is that I will find similar behavior from Reese. If its NIL and publicity she values, she needs to understand that all that is directly linked to the product she puts on the court. She can't "afford" to be benched. Sit on your ass, lose that cash. If her effort continues to resemble this, then Mulkey has to figure out how to build a competitive team without Reese. I'm thinking Reese is slowly putting herself in Mulkey's dog house.

Modifying my post here.... Was told late last night that the LSU staff would be getting some good news today in regards to Miller today.

Today, from some different sources I'm told they're expecting a different outcome. So there's some conflicting info.

Today's source is a little closer to the situation, so now I'm thinking Miller is going to go another direction. Hearing potentially G-league. Also Oregon was in the conversation. So not 100-percent on where he's headed but unless something changes I'm pretty confident now that LSU is not the pick.
