LSU FOOTBALL Defensive issues

This topic has been discussed but what are the real causes ? And more importantly can anything be done to solve them ?

…lack of talent ? Lack of development of recruits , having to bring in whatever they
Can get from the portal ….nothing can be done here if that the issue

…lack of coaching ? Our DB coaches are veterans who have had success
not much can be done here

…lack of focus ? You can only coach so much if the players have mental lapses

…young players ? Kelly alluded to this post game

…lastly Is our offense scoring so fast that the defense is forced to go right back
on the field too soon …would a better run game help this

LSU BASKETBALL 09/25 Kim Mulkey Media Availability

  • She's only had the freshman and transfers for two days a week since school started, but says the talent is very evident. They can score at all five positions.
  • Doesn't think she'll have a problem managing all the personalities on this team. Thinks everyone that wears the uniform is going to welcome the spotlight and be able to handle all the expectations.
  • Flau'jae Johnson has a mild ankle sprain. Poa had surgery on her broken hand and she's doing well but they won't be full speed at the Tigers first open practice.
  • Says it's hard to win, but it's very hard to win it back-to-back. She did it as a player, but not as a coach. Says if you're the underdog and you win the natty, you didn't get everyones best shot. Feels LSU will get every single teams best every game.
  • Says with NIL and social media, it makes it a lot different coming off a national championship here than it was at Baylor and LA Tech.
  • Haley Van Lith, Aneesah Morrow and Angel Reese bring experience to this team and feels they can help the younger players learn how to play at the college pace.
  • Wants to see Aliyah Del Rosario and Sa'Myah Smith play the La'Dazhia Williams role, she get's that they're young, but needs them to learn fast and get production out of them.
  • Says she's never had players walk into her office and complain about playing time. Says she and her coaching staff do a good job of teaching her players that the team comes first and if the team succeeds, they will as individuals too.
  • Feels she has 2 true PG's, but has 5 players who can handle the ball and bring it up the court at any given moment.
  • Says the PMAC is almost completely sold out for pre-sale tickets for all season. They're also talking about putting more seats in the student section because of the high demand.
  • Said LSU as a brand and in NIL is "completely off the charts right now."
  • Thinks that despite Angel being one of the best and most well known college athletes, she's still a competitor and is very motivated to get better everyday.

LSU FOOTBALL 09/25 Brian Kelly Media Availability

  • They have nobody on the injury list that would be anything worse than probable. Very good sign moving forward.
  • Said the crowd on Saturday was great, exactly what they expect from a Death Valley crowd and thinks they helped the team win.
  • Thought after giving up the fake FG, the defense dug in and held them to a FG which was a four point swing. They also ended up using two timeouts after the fake.
  • Highlights all of Ole Miss' offensive weapons, but points out that Ole Miss is also second in the SEC in sacks.
  • Jayden Daniels became 6th player in FBS history with 10,000 passing yards and 2,000 rushing yards in a career. Also won SEC offensive player of the week.
  • Says they knew they needed to find other matchups when Nabers is double teamed, and the emergence of Brian Thomas has helped this offense tremendously.
  • Feels the defense is trying to make too many plays at times. They need to just focus on doing the ordinary things exceptionally well and he feels once they settle down they can be a very good defense.
  • Says Da'Shawn Womack is young and learning and thinks he'll be a really good player, but he still has a lot of work to do before he's ready for a starting position, but thinks there's spots where he can be an impact player.
  • Thought Mason Taylor was outstanding and he was only at 60%. Feels once he gets 100% healthy, he'll become much more of a factor in this offense.
  • Said Andre Sam is getting better quickly, doesn't think he would've made that interception if it was in week one.
  • Said Harold Perkins did a good job on his 'roughing the passer' penalty. Said he hit KJ in the chest and didn't make contact with his helmet. Sent the play to the rules supervisor and is awaiting a response.
  • On the final drive, he felt Arkansas wanted them to pass the ball because they knew they wanted to run the clock out. Said they were brining guys down to defend the run, but his team just wanted it more which allowed them to run the ball well on that final drive.
  • Emphasizes this team could be really good if they avoid the self inflicted wounds.
  • Greg Brooks is making progress. Says it's a long and lengthy process, but as of the last report, they said he needs to continue to rest and recover. Having people visit him often is taking a lot out of him, but he's making the progress his doctors want to see.
  • Thinks Jordan Jefferson is twitchy and extremely strong. Will experiment with him at the nose on their three man fronts.

LSU FOOTBALL Hey purpandgoldhaze…..

Do yo still think that AR isnot better by than MSU? what do you think about Ole Miss? I think AR is better than them, also. I am anxious to see AR play A&M this week. If we didn’t take too much out of them I expect AR to beat A&M. The AR bench really looked dejected including QB Jefferson while BK was playing games with the clock at the end of the game. It might take a whhile for them to get over losing it.

SEC Buy…Sell…Hold for week 4

Jalen Milroe will lead Alabama to a win to salvage the season for Alabama

He’s been named starter AGAIN as they desperately try to solve the QB problem
An Alabama loss to 7 pt OleMiss underdog in Tuscaloosa could spell big trouble for Saban and company in 2023 and moving forward

Their loss to No. 3 ranked Texas isn’t horrible and Saban is still the GOAT even though we all like to believe otherwise
