Says the team has all their managers ringing cowbells during practice this week to help prepare for Mississippi State. They expect a loud crowd, but they're preparing to go to a silent count if needed.
Coach Kelly says John Emery is in a much better position mentally and physically than last year. He doesn't have a snap count, if he comes out hot, he'll continue to get snaps.
Kaleb Jackson will also see some time in the backfield and as a returner this week.
Says the only chance we see JK Johnson this year is in December, if not later.
Feels this is a team that can compete for the SEC West again. They have a lot of transfers and young players, so they've had some growing pains, but feels this stretch is where his team can find their identity.

Coach says he's pleased with the way his team played against Grambling and how the handled their emotions. Played very disciplined football, just two penalties.
Defense had some missed assignments and tackles early on. Said they may have been too anxious, but they settled down and held Grambling to 61-yards of offense in second half.
Points out the difference in Miss. States offense this year. No more air raid, moved to a more traditional offense. Highlights Will Rodgers experience (11,000 career passing yards) and Jo'Quavious Marks who leads the SEC in rushing through two games (312).
Says they're going to do some stuff in practice to get ready for the early kick. They'll going straight into team practices instead of slowly building up to it at the end of practice among other things to get ready for the 11am kickoff.
Kelly went back and reviewed Zalance Heard's tape. Said he liked what he saw, he was physical, he handled the emotions of the game well. Says we'll likely see Heard rotate in against Miss. State like we did against Grambling.
Although Diggs had a great game, Kelly said they are going to play the hot hand every week. Diggs may be the 'RB1,' but if any of the other guys are hot on a specific week, they'll continue to feed him.
Said Maason Smith played hard, but had a little bit of rust.
Was glad to see Denver Harris keep his cool when things got chippy during the game. Wants to see Denver Harris continue to learn and grow as a corner. He was always a press corner, but now they're asking him to do a lot more, and he feels Harris has been enthusiastic about learning.
I know everyone is expecting LSU to win and rightfully so. Jermaine has called it a “get right” game, which is actually a good label for it… What do you want to see on Saturday to feel better about LSU moving forward?
