Head Coach Brian Kelly met with the media on Tuesday to discuss Sunday's loss and this Saturday's matchup against Grambling:

• Injury update: Armoni Goodwin - questionable, Aaron Anderson - probable.
• Said nobody is happy with Sunday's performance, but points out the amount of new faces that played. 11 true freshman and 14 new transfers traveled with the team this past weekend.
• Says he knows who is team is physically, but mentally they just weren't where they needed to be. Says he needs to do a better job getting his players in the right mindset.
• He and the team are excited to go out on Saturday and play the game the way it's intended to be played for four quarters, not just two.
• There's a happy medium that they feel they can strike with Harold Perkins. Thinks he can be used both as a rusher and as an off ball linebacker, and they hope they can find that happy medium better in the future.
• Says they needs to figure out a better rushing balance. Jayden can't be the teams leading rusher every week, and he knows that. No running back had more than four touches and that needs to change.
• Teams very excited to get Maason Smith back this weekend - sounds like he could get a start this weekend.
• Says Aaron Anderson will still stay back on punts even after the muff. Says he gets away from his fundamentals at time and that doesn't work in CFB. Also expects him to get more involved in the offense as the season goes on.

Clemson just got skull drug by Duke. We did not look good last night, but prolly played the best team on our schedule. We have a lot of time to right the ship.

My Observations/Takeaways Following LSU's 54-24 loss to FSU. I think some changes are needed.

Down 17-3 to Utah, almost halftime

Joe Brady had our WRs catching 10,000 balls over the summer. I'd be making them catch 10,000 balls this week! When the ball is in the air and its coming your way, as a WR, you got one job. Being replaced is a great motivator. You drop a ball, you come out for the rest of the series. At this point we got nothing to lose by putting Hilton, Ibieta, Parker, Brown in if our starters can't catch clutch passes.

Too bad we don't have an OC on the bench waiting for his chance to call a game.

Florida state committed several unnecessary roughness penalties . LSU none
some were foolish but one came away with the impression that they were more aggressive that LSU

...really makes me imagine what they'd be doing if Maason Smith were lined up there beside him. F'in NCAA.

All camp I felt like we were practicing way too soft and running too many drills instead of learning to be nasty and execute. That showed up tonight unfortunately. Our guys don’t need to be ground into the dirt, but it’s clear we’ve lost our toughness and grit. Plain and simple we weren’t ready and didn’t want it as bad as fsu.

I know we already did one, but I'm going to call this one the official Week 1 since Louisiana opened up the season this weekend.

2. Start Penn at ILB and move Perkins back to his havoc reaking position from last year. I saw him get tossed like a ragdoll more than he had tackles last night.

Some O-Line changes may need to be made. But FSU's D-Line very under rated..

Against Grambling and these next few games gotta give some these other players good play time. I guarantee you find some playmakers that should be in the starting line up. If these players who are hungry are forced to sit behind scrubs who start...there's the portal. They will either prove that they are true 2nd and 3rd string or they will rise to starter. What we know for certain is that some who were labeled as starters out of spring ball were mislabeled.
