LSU FOOTBALL 11/07 Brian Kelly Media Availability

  • When asked about the Tiger at the game on Saturday, he said "I am a huge Tiger fan...Geaux Tigers."
  • CJ Daniels is upgraded to probable and practiced today.
  • Says they know what they need to do to win football games. Those things got away from them against A&M, so the emphasis has been on how they can do those things for four quarters.
  • Chris Hilton will play more snaps and have more of an opportunity to impact the game. Said he's been pressing a bit this week, so he told him to slow down and let the game come to him.
  • Part of their defensive scheme is, when Milroe breaks out the pocket and scrambles, the secondary guys need to crash on him. It's going to take a cohesive effort from their defense to keep him at bay in the run game.
  • They've been significantly better running to the left than the right side, and with Dellinger out, it's a huge loss. He says that him being out is no excuse, they need to be better in the run game no matter what, especially against Alabama.
Short one today. Got here late and we got about 10 minutes with him before he left.

LSU BASKETBALL LSU vs ULM Post Game Presser Notes

Matt McMahon
  • Liked their defensive intensity and thought they did a great job defending the three point line. Thought they wore them down with their full court pressure.
  • Thought they were effective moving the ball around on offense. Had a few careless turnovers, but all in all it was good.
  • Feels like they have multiple weapons at each position, which can get defenses off balanced. They couldn't double Jalen Reed because of their guard play and vice versa.
  • Liked what he saw from his guards on the glass. Multiple of them had 4+ and he thinks it's going to be a strength for them moving forward.
  • Thinks they want to live around 35 attempts from three. They shot 34 today and said he liked the balance of the shots.
  • Says he thinks they're at their best when Dji Bailey is on the floor. He played well at every level of the game tonight and expects him to continue to play that way.
  • Thought Jalen Reed was really tough tonight on both offense and defense. Liked what he saw on offense, but points out his 8 rebounds in 23 minutes. Thought that was big. Said during the offseason he was coming in early on Saturday morning to get extra workouts, staying after practice for extra conditioning and getting extra weight sessions in.
  • Said Derek Fountain had a really scary fall in practice which could've been really bad, but they got lucky. Thought he played well tonight off the bench.
  • McMahon wore a suit to today's game, which he normally doesn't do. Said it was too damn hot, so that won't be a trend.
Jalen Reed & Cam Carter
  • Reed said he put in a ton of work this offseason to get ready for the year. Gives credit to his teammates for getting him the ball and making his life easy.
  • Reed says it's weird because he was just a young guys trying to soak up info from the older guys, but now he's one of the vets of the program.
  • Carter says they've been practicing playing unselfishly on offense all offseason. It's a big emphasis from McMahon because they have so much talent at every position.
  • Carter chose LSU because God led him here. He's from LA and calls it a dream come true.
  • Said they worked with Garrett Temple this offseason when he was in town. They got up at 5am to work with them and learned a lot from them.
  • Called Rob Miller a game changer. He didn't have a great night offensively, but his defensive effort was there all night and he altered a lot of shots tonight.
  • Reed said he didn't even see the guy he dunked on until he was already jumping.

LIVE GAME THREAD LSU vs LA-Monroe Live Game Thread

LSU Men's Basketball gets their 2024-25 season underway with a matchup against ULM tonight at 7pm CT in the PMAC. There's a lot of hope around this year's team, and it seems like a year where McMahon almost has to make the NCAA Tournament. I'll be posting live updates from the game in here and will have starters posted once we get them.

ESPN+ is carrying the game. Not on cable TV, only ESPN+ as far as I'm aware.

RECRUITING Visitors List: LSU vs Alabama

The Five-Stars
Login to view embedded media Five-star QB and LSU commit, Bryce Underwood, will make his way to Baton Rouge this Saturday for the Tigers game vs Alabama. The No. 2 player in the country has been solid in his commitment for nearly a year now, but Michigan is making a push. This is a great opportunity to LSU to lock things down with one of the best players in the country.
Login to view embedded media Jahkeem Stewart, a New Orleans native, reclassified from 2026 to 2025 and is now the 4th best prospect in the class. Stewart has traveled across the country to Ohio State, Oregon, USC and other schools, but will now come to BR for the Bama game. It looks like it's a two horse race between LSU and Oregon for his talents, so a big weekend could go a long ways.
Login to view embedded media Another top player in the 2025 class, DJ Pickett, is expected to be on campus this weekend. The LSU commit was supposed to come for the Ole Miss game, but couldn't make it, so he's coming in town this weekend. Pickett is another player who has been solid in his commitment thus far, but has schools such as Miami working to flip him. Like Underwood, another big visit could go a long ways towards locking him down.
Login to view embedded media The fourth and final five-star in the 2025 class making his way to BR this weekend is Harlem Berry. The LSU commit hasn't had a whole bunch of noise surrounding his recruitment, so I think it's safe to say he'll make it to signing day.

LSU FOOTBALL Yay USCe. We got what we wanted or needed….

with the USCe win over A&M if my assumptions are correct. If we win out we have all the tie breakers to go to the SECCG except with potentially TX. The only one who has a tie breaker on us at this time is A&M. But if TX beats A&M they will have the tie breaker on us.. A&M would be our opponent if they win out. Otherwise it would likely be GA if they win out against TX if they win out. Let’s hope AR beats TX. Or TN beats GA. What a mess.

LSU BASKETBALL LSU vs EKU Post Game Presser Notes

Kim Mulkey
  • Says they have depth, but they don't have it right now. She's still piecing it together.
  • They want to play a lot of kids and press on defense. They want to keep her players fresh so they can put pressure on opposing offenses.
  • Says Flau'jae is in the best shape she's ever been in and thinks she's playing effortlessly. Thinks she's a leader on the court, but wants to see her become more of a vocal leader.
  • Thinks this team has 4-5 players who can be double-digit scorers every night.
  • Wants to get everybody healthy before she tries to evaluate her team too much. Mikaylah's fighting through an ankle injury, Del Rosario is still hurting and Mjracle Sheppard is out for a few weeks.
  • Thinks Sa'Myah gets in her head a bit defensively. She thinks about her knee and it prevents her from moving laterally some times. Thinks her confidence in her knee will comeback in time.
  • Calls Flau'jae and Mikaylah two of the best guards in the country despite being so young.
Shayeann Day-Wilson & Sa'Myah Smith
  • Smith was excited to get back out on the court after tearing her ACL last year. She got more comfortable as the game went on when she scored 6 of her 15 points in the 4th quarter.
  • Wilson said she transferred to LSU to win a national championship and she knows Mulkey will bring out the best in her as a PG.
  • Wilson is super experienced and has played at two power five programs before LSU, but she had to learn how each of her teammates play the game as a PG. She's trying to build bonds with everyone so she can be the facilitator of the offense and try to understand their play style.
  • Smith called the last year really hard as she recovered from her knee injury. She reiterated that she's really excited to be back with the team this year and playing.
