OFF TOPIC Veterans

The only contributor I know for sure on here who served is Chevy. I know there are others. So, thank you Chevy and all other vets. If you are a veteran, please take a second to write what branch you served with and any other info you want us non vets to know about you. I asked, so it won’t be self-serving. Would be a totally different country if it wasn’t for our veterans.

RECRUITING 11/13 LSU Baseball Recruiting Update

The LSU Tigers Baseball team is set to sign the No. 1 recruiting class in the 2025 cycle today based on Perfect Game's rankings. They hold commitments from two of the top-10 and 11 of the top-11 players in the country. Jay Johnson and Co. put a ton of recruiting work in, and they continue to show why they're the best in the business. Here's their 2025 class:

Dean Moss, OF: 6-0, 182lb. Product of IMG Academy.

Brady Ebel, SS: 6-3, 190lbs. Corona HS in California.

Quentin Young, SS: 6-5, 215lb. Oaks Christian HS in CA.

Miguel Sime Jr, RHP: 6-4, 235lb. Poly Prep Country Day in New York.

River Hamilton, RHP: 6-3, 185lb. Sam Barlow HS in Oregon.

Omar Serna, C: 6-2, 225lb. Lutheran South Academy in Texas.

Mason Braun, 1B: 6-0, 195lb. Penn HS in Indiana.

Reagan Ricken, RHP: 6-5, 220lb. Great Oak HS in CA.

Jack Ruckert, SS: 6-1, 185lb. Catholic HS in Baton Rouge, LA.

Marcos Paz, RHP: 6-2, 220lb. Hebron HS in Texas.

Ethan Clauss, SS: 6-2, 190lb. Palo Verde HS in Nevada.

Williams Patrick, OF: 6-2, 200lb. St. Frederick HS in Monroe, LA.

Zion Theophilus, RHP: 6-2, 196lb. Moeller HS in Ohio.

Landon Hodge, C: 6-2, 195lb. Crespi Carmelite HS in CA.

Jonah Aase, LHP: 6-1, 190lb. Meridian HS in Washington.

Briggs McKenzie, LHP: 6-2, 185. Wendell HS in North Carolina.

Marshall Louque, SS: 6-3, 195lb. Lutcher HS in Lutcher, LA.

Karson Trichel, RHP: 6-4, 200Ib. Ouachita Christian in Monroe, LA.

Pretty healthy mix of positions in this class. RHP and LHP, a few catches and outfielders, but a whole lot of infielders. Remember, all these SS will probably move around in the infield once they get to college.

LSU BASKETBALL 11/12 Matt McMahon Media Availability

  • Thinks Coach Tang has done a great job constructing Kansas State's roster. They're averaging 20 assists per game and hit a lot of threes.
  • Says Cam Carter had good times at K-State, so doesn't think it's a "revenge game," but still wants to win.
  • Thought there were a lot of distractions for the team this weekend with the game and recruiting, and it showed in the first half. Wants to see his guys lock in this week.
  • Pleased with the rim protection this far. Thinks they've allowed the ball in the paint too much, but rim protection has been pretty good.
  • Pleased with the three point defense, but they're getting beat off the dribble too much. That's been a big focus for them this week.
  • Not ideal to be down 10 points on Sunday, but it was a chance to see how his team performed with adversity. Thought they responded really well to it.
  • Jalen Reed has gained 15 pounds in muscle this offseason, which has allowed him to play stronger than in years past. Thinks he's really comfortable down in the paint now.
  • Likes their momentum in recruiting with signing day coming tomorrow.
  • Pleased with Noah Boyde's recovery. He's cleared for practice now, but not game action yet.

LSU FOOTBALL IMO LSU will not make ….

the playoffs in 2025. This is not meant to be a negative “hit” piece just observation.
- I don’t see our OL run blocking improving due to most of OL going to NFL, graduation, coaching. Also BK may have to replace Brad Davis. He seems to be a good recruiter but has not been able to get our run game blocking to improve. The lack of a good run game has made us one dimensional.
- Need elite, game changing WRs. These may need to come from TP.
- The D is improving but still has a long way to go.
This appears to be more a Jimmy and Joe problem rather than coaching.
- Nuss will need to improve like Burrow and Daniel’s did in their second year. He also needs to be able to run more. Not sure if that is due to BK not wanting to risk Nuss getting injured but opponents Ds don’t fear him running. He’s not a Daniels but IMO he is as good as Burrow running.
Bottom line I see 2025 as a repeat of 2024 unless there are a lot of unexpected improvements.
IMO if BK doesn’t get us to playoffs in 2026 a BK contract buyout could happen. Paying a HC almost $10 mil/ yr and not making the playoffs after 5 years is unacceptable.
Hope I’m wrong about this. Again not intended as a negative slam.

LSU FOOTBALL 11/11 Brian Kelly Media Availability Notes

  • Going to the Swamp is always a challenge and a difficult place to play.
  • Said the fans showed out and created a great atmosphere this weekend, and he's sorry they couldn't perform for them.
  • Says now, the most important thing is playing consistent football. Playoffs are out of the picture, so everything now is about them and how they play LSU football.
  • You have to prepare for DJ Lagway and Graham Mertz because of Lagway's injury concerns.
  • Says he doesn't evaluate coordinators during the season. Says everyone gets to second guess a play call after the game. What he wants to see from Sloan the rest of the year is for him to create more opportunities in the run game.
  • He was asked if he thinks things are fixable this year or if it might take an offseason of bringing in transfers and new coaches. Thinks there's still a chance for this team to get better and fix things, but the players and coaches need to find ways to be more successful.
  • Thought Paul Mubenga did some good things against Alabama. For a first time starter, they were pleased with him.
  • Garrett Dellinger will workout today and they'll get a better idea of where he's at after that.
  • He's not happy about what happened on Saturday, but still believes in this program and his ability to winning here, especially because of the recruiting classes they have coming in.
  • Says nothing was wrong with Caden Durham on Saturday despite him only playing 20 snaps.
  • Would've liked to see more outside zone runs, but it was hard to be consistent with the run game because of the score.
  • Says Florida has had a ton of injuries and has done well to weather that storm.
  • Says from a defensive standpoint, it's all hands on deck. If they feel there's a young player who can come in and help them, they're not worried about burning a redshirt. They will play.
  • Shelton Sampson is trying to fight his way into a lineup that is full of talent at WR. He's played 100+ snaps this year, but still doesn't have a catch, which is pretty weird.
