LSU FOOTBALL Postgame with Brian Kelly

-- Brian Kelly opens the press conference by giving credit to his team's mental toughness: "I am most proud of the mental toughness this group has shown."

-- Kelly says may have been Jayden Daniels’ best game. “I don’t know that we were lacking confidence at all. We wanted to bounce back from what we thought was offensively less than our best game. And Arkansas had something to do that, but we had something to do with that.”

-- Kelly says Kayshon Boutte wanted to play, but had been out sick with the flu since Wednesday.

-- Josh Williams probably could’ve pushed knee and been ready, but they felt it was smarter to be safe and have him ready for Texas A&M next week.

-- The biggest difference for Noah Cain for a big night tonight was just the opportunity, Kelly said. A slow month and a half for the Louisiana native more about a crowded backfield than anything else, the coach said.

-- Kelly on the LSU seniors recognized tonight before the game. “They jumped in and gave me the opportunity to build this program with the right standards, so we didn’t have to cut corners or take three steps back. We were able to take steps forward every day.”

-- Kelly confirms that ESPN broadcast report that Armoni Goodwin will be out the rest of the season. Adds that Charles Turner is really beat up and they'll have to see how he responds but joked that he expects Turner to bounce back well Monday after seeing how well Marlon Martinez played tonight.

RECRUITING The Visitor List: LSU vs. UAB

Saturday night is the last game in Tiger Stadium this season and although LSU doesn’t have the biggest visitor list of the year, it’s still an important one. From my understanding, the focus was to get in-state guys at this game along with a few out-of-staters.

-- Brian Thomas Jr. has cleared concussion protocol and will play this weekend, per Brian Kelly.

-- Kelly has had a number of discussions with players about who's returning and who's not next season. Kelly said it's a personal preference if some want to take part in Senior Day. Expects some players to go public in the "next week or two" with announcements.

-- Kelly: "I'm used to playing mostly night game because those are the nationally televised games. ... Our routine is pretty good. You're playing at home. ... 11 a.m. is different. That was a difficult transition, which we got through."

-- Kelly on Josh Williams: "Josh is probably the least heralded player in the backfield. He ended up being a captain for us in three different games...all those traits are what we've been looking for."

-- Kelly on Jayden Daniels: "It's been a process. We've seen good days and days of growth. You have to have a QB that has the tools necessary. He's got to be coachable and the ability to fight through adversity and a system that fits."

-- Kelly added that at the start of camp the offense was not put in to fit a specific quarterback. But now, things have changed. "This offensive system is now installed for Jayden Daniels and we've really tweaked it to fit that."

LSU FOOTBALL LSU +16 v Ga

Early line is out and is just about what I expected it to be

Neither team has remaining games that will drastically affect the spread
Of course it will move a bit and key injuries will come into play

The night our season changed course

We all thought the ship sailed on getting former Louisiana native, and excellent Cypress Park Texas LB prospect, #4
to return home. And then this happened, and frankly we were never the same again. Also "Griddy" dancing
is fellow freshmen Jordy Allen and LaTerrence Welch; and Jacoby Matthews. While I am thinking about
it, did anyone else see Kendrick Law at slot against Mississippi; he looked quick and thick and made some
Yac (yards after catch). Matthews and Law
I suspect, are on Kelly's "Louisiana Come Home Board" or is it, "Callin Baton Rouge Board". Either way
enjoy again the timeless classic, the night we got Perk! Hopefully this weekend our next Cypress Park Backer
Christian Braithewaite, Griddies his way to Baton Rouge as well!

SEC A look at the SEC West

As 2022 season nears the end could we take a look at the SEC West teams

Alabama …it always starts with Alabama. Does two losses really signal the demise of
the Evil Genius ? I’m not ready to buy that just yet. When Bryce leaves there will
be a void

Auburn …almost as dysfunctional as our rivals to our west . A good coach can win
there despite all the turmoil . Can they ever find a decent QB

Arkansas …was 2021 merely a mirage . I’m not sure that Sam Pittman has righted that
ship . Can they ever recruit there enough to win championships?

Ole Miss … Lane has that program as high as possible . Credit to him for fielding a
competitive team . They hope that he isn’t lured away ..Auburn, Arizona State

Miss State …The Pirate was a reach and is now wallowed in mediocrity . Another place
thats difficilt to recruit . Many believed that the Leach system wouldn‘t play in
the SEC . They were right

Texas A&M …now the laughing stock of college football . When you out recruit and out spend you set yourself up for failure

Just wait until Texas and Oklahoma arrive

Generally it’s been a disappointing year for all but The Mighty Tigers
