  • Aaron Anderson, Kyle Parker, Jelani Watkins and Zavion Thomas all worked out at punt returner.
  • Shelton Sampson made a couple nice catches, highlighted by a leaping touchdown catch over a defender. He hit his head pretty hard and is being evaluated, but they're confident it isn't too bad.
  • Collin Hurley threw multiple interceptions, including one to Harold Perkins who was covering Mason Taylor down the sideline.
  • Kylin Jackson picked off Rickie Collins the play before the Perkins INT.
  • Ashton Stamps also had a red zone interception on Hurley.
  • Trey'Dez Green looks like a monster out there. Had two big catches in tight coverage. He absolutely looks the part.
  • Kyren Lacy looked like a No. 1 WR. Made some nice catches, including one over Michael Turner Jr.
  • Kylan Billiot beat both PJ Woodland and Joel Rogers for a 40-yard touchdown.
  • Bradyn Swinson was absent from practice.

OU Schedule.....

C'ville is back! Lots of travel. OU OOC schedule, holy crap.....Temple, Houston, Maine, and some other lay down. Well placed too. Their first go is doable, but a big finish with Bama and LSU back to back. It could be a lot worse. FOUR uncompetitive OOC games really helps. And we have USC and UCLA. Not exactly the Maine Black Bears.

LSU FOOTBALL 08/01 Brian Kelly Media Availability Notes

  • Said he was happy with the speed and execution at practice today. Saw some fatigue because of the heat and pads, but was pleased with them.
  • Moved Sage to CB today. They’re cross training him, wanted spring to be all safety, but he’ll train at both this fall.
  • Trey’Dez Green had a big day. Thinks he looks the part, controls his body well and has a great deal of confidence. He’s picked things up very quick and says it hasn’t been a very difficult transition to college so far.
  • Says Lacy has embraced being the veteran WR in the building. He wants to live up to the standard that comes with being a WR at LSU. Says he’s seen him grow so much since winter.
  • They love PJ Woodland and his competitiveness, but he needs to be more consistent. He made a great play, then got burnt the next play. They need to test him, and the rest of their young guys.
  • Said the second unit of the O-line is so valuable this year. Center will stay the same, but the rest of the starters are leaving after this season. Says their main focus right now is to figure out the center position right now, though.
  • Javien Toviano has been reinstated by the university and will be back in the mix soon.
  • Zy Alexander is full go, but he’s still getting used to making cuts and using his knee again.
  • They want to “stress” John Emery in practice to see if just how good his knee feels coming off the ACL. They’ll be more conservative with Josh Williams because they know what they’re getting with him on Saturdays.
  • Shelton Sampson made a really nice play, but hit his head on the way down. He’s being evaluated for a head injury, but think he should be okay.
  • No real injuries keeping guys out as of today. Most guys are either full go or working their way back.

LSU FOOTBALL Fall Camp

LSU fall camp begins today, but media aren't allowed in until tomorrow. They have a pretty open media schedule, so there will be a lot of content coming from fall camp over the coming weeks. We have 12 days of access starting tomorrow - August 24th. Just wanted to let y'all know things are about to ramp up again and football season is right around the corner.

If there's anything specific you want me to look for while I'm there for the post-practice notes, just let me know. Might not get to everything on day one, but over the next few weeks I should be able to get just about everything.

RECRUITING Insider Notes: Post Bayou Splash Buzz

Combing through a lot of my notes and texts this morning and early afternoon and wanted to put together a little post Bayou Splash post with some of the latest chatter and buzz following a successful event weekend. There were some things that went LSU's ways and a few that did not... With that said let's get right to it.

RECRUITING Questions for our recruiting gurus (%'s on elite targets)

Without the need for justification (though we'd happily take it), what is your gut percentage on these young men ending up at LSU, post-Bayou Splash? Taking in all factors - LSU's interest, their interest in LSU, likelihood of sticking through the process once they commit, chance of going pro (in Jonah Williams' case) - just looking for a percentage to help temper hopes & expectations...

5* WR Jamie Ffrench (FL)
4* WR Jerome Miles (UT)
3* WR Phillip Wright (LA)

5* S Jonah Williams (TX)
4* S AnQuon Fegans (AL)
3* CB Aidan Anding (LA)

5* DE Jahkeen Stewart (LA)
And any other major names that our antennas should be up for right now? ANY chance at all that we flip Jaboree Antoine or has that ship sailed? Anyone currently committed to us that we should be keeping an eye on just in case?

Basically just a round up of the biggest names we are watching right now, I guess, since we don't seem to do those very much any more. The percentages are what I'm most curious about, especially if you guys have conflicting opinions. I'd appreciate anything you had to offer.
